I hope that these repairs will fix my issues because if they don't it might be bye bye tahoe. I mean I'd love to get a new 5.3 crate motor if this one dies but my wife would never allow it.

I can't remember your exact year, but some of the earlier years had a serviceable pcv valve. If so, replace it. Could also do a seafoam treatment on the cylinders. Possibly an oil control ring stuck. Notice any smoking at start up, especially after long drives on the interstate?It was about a half a quart per week. I don't know the exact mileage.
You’re giving up way too easy. What brand knock sensors did you install? If they’re Dorman, there’s your problem. They’re known to fail, only go with OEM. And it could still be your MAF. I believe you only said you cleaned it? If it’s still throwing a MAF code, try replacing it with a Delphi OEM, again not aftermarket. Your lifter tick may be broken exhaust manifold bolts- check to see how many broken ones you have. I’d be willing to bet you have a few and the exhaust leaks have fooled many owners of these vehicles. These engines are pretty bulletproof.Well gents. It ran fine for about 24 hours. Then the check engine light came back on and the gas mileage went way down again. I am going to have my son read the code when he gets home. If it comes up as a knock sensor code still. That means that it is detecting an engine knock. At which time I think it will be scrapped and gotten rid of. I guess I am just not destined to be a Tahoe owner.

You should try a different code reader. If the check engine light is on, there are active codes. If you can't get a different reader, go to Autozone or similar and have codes read for you.Well sorry to report that the check engine light has come on again and no codes can be read on the code reader.
Did he do the rtv dam around the knock sensors?I borrowed a different scanner and it was the knock codes again. I found out from my step son that when he installed the knock sensors and wiring for the knock sensors that the check engine light went off automatically so he didn't clear the code. I cleared it with this advanced reader. So maybe it'll stay off this time. I'm hoping it does anyway!
