Oh hell I forget the names of some of my body parts on occasion lol. On another note, Blackbear got back to me and said their re-tunes are now taking 15-20 business days. Holy sh*t that’s 3-4 weeks. I offered to pay some in order to get bumped up since I can’t really drive my truck without the tune or at least it’s gonna be running raggedy according to Roger Vinci.

The valve covers came out awesome. I’m pretty well finished, just have the radiator, core support ( I’m painting it tonight) trans cooler, valve covers (waiting to cure) and coil packs left to install.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in case you hadn't noticed, your paint came out all wrinkled up.... guess you will have to sand it all back down and try again.

Here I thought you used spray on bedliner with grip grit.

Upgraded the PCV lines with braided hose I had laying around. The valve covers look good but then you install the coil packs and oh well. I’ll order some ICT Billet mounts. Painted the core support and radiator, transmission and oil coolers so it will look better behind the grill.

Started it up, followed Roger Vinci’s startup instructions and all is well. Temp seems a bit high but that might have something to do with the tune or else the cooling system has some air in it still. It does run a bit rough but not as bad as I was afraid of.
I’ll wait until the tune is installed before I post a video. It does seem a bit lopey and hopefully it will be more pronounced after the tune. Shannon at Blackbear is checking to see if I can pay a bit to get my tune faster.

So far my experience with those has been total ******* shit and I am still looking for the right part for mine. And from what I researched they are very difficult to remove and replace without removing the cover. And still difficult even so without breaking the plastic keeper tab.

So, that oil filler tube, you installed it after the covers were in stalled. Is there a part number for that? Does it fit nice and snug at the base? So far my experience with those has been total ******* shit and I am still looking for the right part for mine. And from what I researched they are very difficult to remove and replace without removing the cover. And still difficult even so without breaking the plastic keeper tab.

It s solid now, not so much before. The OEM part number for the filler tube is 12574386. It has to rotate a full 180* to be removed or installed and I think since my overflow tank is relocated and is in the way of doing that, it never got installed right. IMO it’s easier to install it with the cover installed so you can twist it good and seat the big o-ring without the valve cover moving. I grab it with both hands, turn and push, then pull to remove, or push slightly when installing so the tabs engage.

Hard to judge the size, but it looks like one of the black 10mm bolts that secure the plastic wire harness mount to the front side of the oil pan or cooler lines on the side or plastic flexplate covers (but you'd know if one of those were missing). But if it's a 14mm or 15mm...

I let it cool down, noticed the coolant level in the tank dropped way down so it must have burped itself. Added another 2/3 gallon and now it stays right at 195* according to the Tech2. Supposed to be 194 so I think that’s close enough.

At least it’s not at 197*, then you might have a problem! Great job on getting just about everything taken cared of, except for that 1 bolt!

No. The job is incomplete and this is now a game.

Could it be one of the three that hold the engine cover mount to the intake manifold?
