I realize this is an older thread here but question for those who have unplugged the brake booster sensor.....I unplugged my on my 2011 Tahoe. When I started the truck, service brake soon blinked and it clear when I switched dash buttons. Anyhow I drove it around and I never got any check engine light or code. But I could see on the dash it still switching from v8 to v4 when I would coast. Hard to tell when I hit the gas.....But the question is, with this method will the dash still switch like normal from v8 to v4 but in reality the afm is disabled? Or does it not not work on the 2011?

I believe the brake pressure switch is a trick for the 2015 and up trucks but even then I don't know that it's worth putting today's modern over engineered braking systems onto a default mode over stopping afm.

if your dash is showing 4cyl mode, it's going into 4cyl and it didn't work.

Thanks man for the reply. I agree with you. Tomorrow driving from CT 5 hours into New Hampshire.....lots of highway miles in M5 as opposed to 6th gear. I don't like when it goes in V4 so I will just ease it in M5. Thanks!

if you can, it's worth just having it turned off in the tune. either by buying hptuners,(I've had friends picked up used older ones off Facebook groups for cheap) or if you can be without the truck for a few days, cheaper is mailing the ecm off. something like 75$ I want to say? but pieces may have gone up like everything.

also I see guys on Facebook market place offering to using hp tuners to disable afm. they don't tune. Just gotta license the ecm, change one drop down box, save and upload. I believe it's 2 credit at 50$.each. so don't let tell you it's 400$ or something like that. but credits and 50$ for their time is reasonable if you're going to them.

also the guys here all love their black bear tranny tunes. if you have the money, it's probably worth doing that to save the tranny and have them turn off afm while in there. no clue what the current cost of that is thou.
