The coating on the rotor will wear off. Do a good burn-in/seat the pads, let them cool, then do it again couple hours later. The 1st time you do it, you will still see the coating, and it will start to wear off. The 2nd time should be good. The police pads put off some dust, so just stay on top of cleaning the wheels. They'll stop and shouldn't get any noise out of them. The Rebestos wear nice. More milegae out them than the oe stuff.
Thats awesome! If you dont mind, where did you source the calipers and cost? The braking difference is now where my previous Germans were, as far as pedal feel and application. Then under a hard stop, holy cow, it's glorious!
The original fronts were 4-piston. The calipers bolted up perfectly, as I also opted to pull the hubs to install the larger backing plates. With the PPV backing plates, it required no shimming of the caliper, as it aligned perfectly over the rotor.Thats awesome! If you dont mind, where did you source the calipers and cost?
As far as your 21 Denali, what was the the caliper on it? 2 piston, 4 piston, and did it use a caliper mounting bracket like previous generations or is the bracket deleted like the ppv caliper? Thanks!

Oh, yeah that'd definitely be an upgrade, but I tend to keep stock stuff around and throw the vehicle back to stock if I decide to sell or trade-in. I'd recommend this setup over my 21 stock setup.Good write up. Thanks for sharing. I was referencing your stock components for brake upgade on my 05 tahoe. The 13" rotors and a 4 piston calipers would stop better than my current 12" with 2 piston. But been researching the 16" 6 piston as well.
As far as your sensor and hose bracket issues. By chance did you look up those parts for a 21 up ppv tahoe? May be what you need.
Rotor and pad info i gave out is what we use as replacement components over the oe in our ploice fleet.
Cool. I get it.Oh, yeah that'd definitely be an upgrade, but I tend to keep stock stuff around and throw the vehicle back to stock if I decide to sell or trade-in. I'd recommend this setup over my 21 stock setup.
I did look up the part numbers for both and the left side brake hose has a different part number, by one digit, but the passenger side was the same. I'm sure it would be fine and wouldn't rub through, I'm just **** and over-cautious.
The original fronts were 4-piston.
Negative. Comparing the PPV to my Yukon XL and the part numbers were exactly the same, including lines. I believe they went smaller pistons to account for the master setup. After doing a 2700 mile road trip, these brake are worth their weight in gold. Could not be more happier with my decision to go with them.Since your new caliper has 6 pistons, 4 more than previous front setup, does the master cylinder need replacing also?

Thanks for the heads up! I will keep that in mind for our fleet.I installed the exact combo of pads/rotors you have in those pictures on my 07 Escalade. I have to say I have never seen so much brake dust in any of my vehicles. The stopping power is phenomenal though.
I am going to change pads to something with low dust when it's time to do the rear brakes (soon) and have matching front and rear pads.
Thanks.
I did swap out to these pads. WAYYYY less dust, no squealing, and overall very happy. They grip a bit less than the original semi-metallics that you posted, but it's a land yacht, not a sports car.Hey everyone, just giving you all another option in replacement pads and rotors. The Power Stop brake rep came by the shop the other day. Set us up with a complete set of front and rear pads and rotors for 21 and up PPV Tahoes. These are supposed to address the brake squeal and increase the wear mileage over the OE pads. We haven't installed them yet, so we don't have any data to report. Just haven't had a tahoe that need a brake replacement yet. Here are the part numbers and the hardware the front pads come with.View attachment 428044View attachment 428045
/Just ordered all these parts thanks to your help helpful post with all the part numbers, will be installing on my 18 Tahoe. ThanxThis thread is great for info, thanks all! In the last month I have swapped my 2011 Escalade, and 2024 Yukon.
Below is the list of what I used for my 2024 Yukon swap. The PPV j55 Tahoe has different brake hoses listed, I have confirmed those fit. Also as stated before, the rear wear sensor works for the front calipers.
I ended up customizing a 18mm socket so I could remove the hub bolts without removing any ball joints, just need to tap the axle back a little.
I will keep an eye on brake dust, I believe it was said the Brembo pads make a lot of dust? My 2011 Escalade has power stop pads, so I should be able to compare.
