The Tech2 is clunky to use, and will only do GM vehicles from 2000? to 2014 roughly..
I feel I should have put that $400 towards a newer, higher end, universal scanner..

I don't know!

But I suppose a snap-on or autel should do it.
One that can display graphs. One that can do all the body functions the Tech2 can.
Pretty much any decent scanner now is newer, higher end, and more universal than a Tech2!

The minimum you'll need to read the code(s) is one that reads body and chassis codes; look for that in the specs; some of those can be under $200. If you need more functionality you'll need a bidirectional scanner, typically those can run $400 on up.

My son and I share an Autel that was around $800 IIRC, but it's bidirectional and can program new TPMS sensors and has some advanced functions.

@OR VietVet I think you have a Foxwell; does that read body and chassis codes? Maybe others will chime in with specific makes and models.

I have had the Foxwell NT301 the longest and is my go to quick scan scanner.....open all links and see what they offer.

Next I bought the FoxwellNT630....just because and it offered more for the money.

Next was the Foxwell NT710 that is GM manufacturer specific. I can only use it on GM products and only GM products that are supported by this specific scanner. I pretty much pull this one out for my 2 GM vehicles only.

The last one I bought was for the capabilities and the manufacturers that it covers. I have to pay to update this one but when I am trying to figure out something and want to only have one scanner pulled out, this does it for me.

Again, you get what you pay for. Read the info supplied in the links and see what that money buys.

I like my tech2 and the fact that it's made to work with my vehicle, I have other scanners for anything else.
the layout provides all the relevant data to the task being performed.
