Good job pappi. Sometimes a solo road trip is good for the soul. Hopefully you made the best of it in that regard.

Raised my Stereo up today. It was blocking the lights on the climate control upper buttons.

Wife is out of town on a “Girl’s Weekend” with a group from her college days.

Called me this morning saying she couldn’t shift her Yukon out of park and the shift lever was loose.

Told her it was likely the bushing on the shift cable at the transmission and that she could probably fix it herself since she was 2-1/2 hrs away.

I sent her a YouTube video of how to fix it and mentioned something about “Girl Power” and the group all having Doctorates in Pharmacy should be able to do it.

Guess who got to drive 5 hrs round trip to spend 5 minutes replacing a $10 part while her and the gals were drinking mimosas at a restaurant.

Nice man!

I hope you earned quite a few coupons with the wife for that!

Changed my oil - Miles =270995
One thing I noticed was a bit of oil dripping down the side all the way down to the oil pan. Never had a leak before but I think it may be time for some new valve cover gaskets. Maybe even new valve covers.
Has anyone replaced them? Any tips or tricks on the process?

Out with the old and in with the new :) Now I need to find some parts to repair my door. This was kind of a pain in the butt haha.

I bet that was squeeking good!

Any tips on replacing the door hinge?

BTW, you forgot to paint it. :p

Haha it's smooth now

It was pretty easy to remove and replace. Stubby sockets would've made it that much easier at least for the two bolts furthest from you on the body side.

Honestly didn't think about painting it. Now that you bring it up, I have to :)

Great, no special handling of the door while the hinge was removed?

Like did you need to prop it up somehow? Or just hold onto the door?

charm.li mentions disabling the airbag system for some reason. and mentions a keeper bolt on the lower hinge.

ya there is a side impact sensor inside all 4 doors (in case you get t-b@ned), if the door fell and ripped the harness it could trigger a airbag pop, not sure on the keeper bolt though

When I’ve had to do this, I just used a floor jack under the latch end of the door to provide support.

Sorry yes like the other fellas have said. I used a Jack as well and kept pressure on it, no other special handling was needed.

ordered parts to do oil pan gasket and some while you're in there stuff.

was torn on replacing the oil pump, but since I figured I might as well do the front seal too, that leads to replacing the tensioner and pulling the oil pump. I was going to put the old pump back on, but rock auto actually had the special pump the hybrids use for a 100$. I said what the heck. I hope I don't regret replacing good old parts with junk new parts.

fingers crossed it's the oil pan only and not the rear plate leaking. that seems even worse to change haha.

Ran across a set of OEM fender flares for suburban and also a set of PPV wheels so this is the latest changes to the old girl. We are at 289k miles due for Torque converter next.

Car is dirty and has rust but its a winter beater and gets destroyed on back roads usually covered with dirt so for that its perfect.
