Free travel mod. This is on my list to do this winter. I'm not very good with a side grinder, and don't have a plasma cutter. Has anyone tried an oscillating tool with a bimetal blade to do this? That gas tank is awfully close!
I used a cut 4" cut off wheel and a sawzall. Ass is puckered near the tank for sure. I even left some hanging by there fgit.

Back from my biggest haul so far. This time I lugged around 3.8k lbs on a 1.2k lbs trailer while stacking an extra 500lbs in the trunk. Warehouse dudes were absolutely awesome letting me chop the second box into pieces behind the warehouse (since I knew it was full of smaller boxes and more convenient to transport that way). Trans temp was steady until the very last stretch when it slowly climbed up to 196F. Oh well, she's cooling off in the yard now. Should treat her with a proper wash and hardwax before winter hits. Overall experience? Like a rock.

Got the Rough Country upper control arms changed out with Delphi arms. This should be the last and 3rd time Cracker gets an alignment for the foreseeable future, i hope.
The tires have at least 3/4 inch clearance now at full turn. Took about an hour and a half but everything is new and im sure that helps a lot.
Try to get it aligned Monday but will probably be Tuesday. I only need to drive it less than 10 miles between now and then, so should be good.
Not much to show but here are a couple pics.

Well damn. Hats off to Les Schwab tires. Called em up at about 11:45 and asked if there was any chance of getting it done today.
They said if i wanted to drop it off they might be able to get it done before closing, but they were busy.
Dropped it off about 12:10 and not long later they called said it was done!
Been using them for about 30 years. Maybe a long time customer pays off?

Drives straight as an arrow and no more tire rubbing. Should be done messing with suspension now but thought i was after the last alignment.

You guys ever notice at low RPMs, while turning, you lose a little power steering? It happens to me every now and again in certain circumstances. If I'm braking at close to full lock I'll feel the wheel get real stiff. Or if I'm at a dead stop and turn the wheel to lock quickly, same thing. Giving it a little gas actually frees it up which makes me think its pump related, but maybe it's a normal thing for our trucks? Juice is good and full.

Yes, usually in the summer, when pulling into a parking spot sometimes.

Planning on a new rack because I have a leak. and I purchased a new pump awhile back. So between that and new hoses and fluid, I won't be able to tell you the culprit..

nope never.
the only hesitation I ever feel is the traction control/stabiltrac when a wheel is out of sync
power steering hesitating sounds like maybe a low rpm issue
I replace the power steering fluid annually, maybe that helps
maybe do a drive record and see what the rpm's are dropping down to during those stop-n-go, if the rpm's are hitting under 500 that could be it
and if so try cleaning the intake/maf, new air filter and either do a injection service or some bottles of injector cleaner for a while
some guys have the idle bumped up with a tune.
running large tires could maybe cause it too

I'm probably on the 13 year old factory fill..
Only happens when hot, so I'm thinking there's a good chance fluid change might do it..

I have heard of people bumping the idle because it was smoother. The stock idle never bothered me, so I left it alone..
But, not loosing steering is a great reason to bump the idle!

I'll probably burn a few extra gallons in 10 years, but hopefully my steering will still work without me having to change the steering fluid.. :p

You could be on the money with RPM issue. My truck definitely runs a little low at idle (neutral and in gear), even more so with the A/C on. I think it may be an exhaust leak at the header due to a broken bolt I haven't fixed yet. I get some shakes at idle too that feels like a miss.

I could use a fluid flush, air filter is new, I'll definitely clean the MAF, and I run injector cleaner relatively often. Tires are a bit larger as well.
Tuner is on the horizon for sure.
Thanks dude!

Had to temporarily(?) attach a spacer for grab handle. (12 mm stainless bushing, hanging underneath 3mm stainless plate)
I was going to tack weld it (might still), but decided to try something else instead..

Alien tape!

Reminds me of dumdum (gooey black rubber strips) but it is clear and not messy.
I cut it into small strips like a short piece of noodle and squeezed it around the spacer joint.

Works great as a small parts holder..

Bought this chunk of Escalade exhaust to play with. It's definitely 3" dia. inlet with 3.5" tubing, necked down for a 3" dia. resonator. Who knows why, except for the 6.2 guys feeling special..., but that tip is goofy. Might need some black paint to hide it.

I'm not 100% sure Ill be able to snake to up over the rear axle while the rig is on the ground, but I'm supposed to be heading to a buddy's home shop today to get undercoated, and he's got a lift, so I'll get it on one way or another.

$163 to my door, and I just wanted the resonator, but even used Evilbay parts were $145+ for cut up pieces.

Played with the rear exhaust this morning, and the existing tailpipe section could easily snake out/over the axle, but the resonator on the OEM part was preventing that, so I dropped the panhard bar for clearance, and tried out three different mufflers.

I settled on the MBRP clone can, as the other one was juuuuust a bit too long (i can relate...) to fit in there with the new tailpipe. When I have some time I'll chop and weld it shorter, because I think it sounded better than the AP muffler (magnaflow-style) or the MBRP-style muffler.

That rear resonator seems to have cut down on a bunch of the rasp, so that's cool.

gm loves to do that neck down stuff. I don't get it.

the c6 zo6 exhaust is full 3in dual all the way to the back. Just before it goes into the mufflers it necks down to what looks like 2 3/4 for about a half inch. it doesn't seem to hurt much, but it always annoys me to see. could have atleast done it inside the mufflers so I don't have to see it haha.

Wife is out of town on a “Girl’s Weekend” with a group from her college days.

Called me this morning saying she couldn’t shift her Yukon out of park and the shift lever was loose.

Told her it was likely the bushing on the shift cable at the transmission and that she could probably fix it herself since she was 2-1/2 hrs away.

I sent her a YouTube video of how to fix it and mentioned something about “Girl Power” and the group all having Doctorates in Pharmacy should be able to do it.

Guess who got to drive 5 hrs round trip to spend 5 minutes replacing a $10 part while her and the gals were drinking mimosas at a restaurant.
