All I did was replace oil sensing unit and valve cover gasket on driver side yesterday. Started right back up, started hearing loud loud tick. This motor is the quietest ever made. Makes no sense. I shut it off immediately. Reached back inside and tapped the key and heard a very loud smack. What in the world? Can new screen be installed wrong and be blocking off oil passage to the lifters or what’s the deal? Only vehicle and runs flawlessly for over 8 years, never fails. 2007 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 wit 335k. Oil pressure on gauge went up to 50

With everything you have described I would be pulling the valve cover back off and checking for a dropped valve.
Maybe a rocker came off the push rod.

Even if the AFM oil passage was blocked, your truck would not activate AFM at cold start idle.

I once left tape on an intake port.. Just one out of 8.. ???
Threw the intake on and started it. 'flap, flap, flap, flap!'
Removed the intake and luckily the tape was still intact.

Never underestimate your ability to lose stuff!
If you're me anyway...

I was under the assumption that this happened after he put it back together and from the sound of it I would take it back off to inspect

Sorry, no, I don't have that ability. But I'll lock this one and reference the other:
