I've been on the fence with deciding if I want to change gears... What RPM's are you turning at 80MPH? I've always been afraid that 4.10's would be overkill with our 6L80's. How does 1st gear work - like does it even use it since you've swapped gears, lol?
With a 3.42 gears I was just hair below 1800 RPMs at 75 mph. With the 4.10 gears, I'm at 2150 RPMs at 75 miles an hour. I Don't consider those RPMs to be excessive for highway driving.

That's the shroud that came with the DEPO housings which is a copy of the OEM unit. Without it there is a gap about 1/4" which is not important but it finishes the look of it.

These are stupid simple to retrofit but bracket thinning is required to bring the projector to proper placement to the opening. I have done 3 sets of these by now and I am probably going to do one more where I may do something with the middle reflector which is DRL only but I may convert it to High beam and DRL function.

the retrofit source used to sell a drop in high beam with a few led that could be wired for drl. I thought about using it once on my c6 head light build. but didn't, still wish I would have even thou it has plenty of light. with 6 total projectors when on high.

edit.. looks like they have a newer version and price went up of course.

Nice. I need some for my K2. Dealership wanted over $200 for each one the last I priced.

Due to my age limited lack of hearing high frequencies (pad squealers) , I let a front pad start touching the rotor.
New Hawk pads and Cryo treated R1 Concepts slotted rotors, new Hawk pads on rears, bled entire system with Motul 600 (since I dont race bikes anymore)........THEN I notieced a front sway bar end link bushing missing/dry rotted off, and both Z55 rear shocks air bags blown. Replaced end links with poly and installed rebuilt rear shocks.

great job with the headlights, That's a really nice cut off
The biggest struggle is always getting a level alignment but on these there was a way to use the bottom 2 screws to mount the projector so it was a no guess work, just bolt in and secure the top and the end result is quite surprising to me even. Turned out good.

Changed the oil tube o-ring in the pan yesterday. Also changed out the control (bypass) valve in the pan with a new one with the deflector.

Very little sludge in the pan, no tensioner parts either!

Putting the differential back in and finishing it up today. Took some pics, will post them later.

Hope that repair solves the lack of oil pressure on start up!

I've used R1 Concepts rotors on various vehicles for about 20 years now.
Have always had a great experience with them.
My one car still has a slotted / drilled set of their rotors that I installed back around 2004.

Did You drop the pan, or go through the timing cover?

I'm now driving my truck with the 4.10 gears, but lightly, allowing the gear sets to fully break in. My first impression is the difference in feel is more like a slingshot effect off the line, rather than a neck breaker, which is fine with me. My speedometer is way off, but a tune adjustment over the next weeks will rectify that.

As an aside, the 14 bolt rear axle shipped with the original sway bar. I picked up that hollow sway bar with one hand, and it was like a twirling baton used by a Majorette. My Hellwig sway bar is a two-handed sway bar, and what a difference.

I want to again acknowledge and thank James (@swathdiver) for his guidance throughout this project. I could not have managed this project without his kind and patient assistance. ACHIEVEMENT EARNS RECOGNITION!

I have a few photos to share from this project that my builder took for me. Nothing really exciting or special, it just documents parts of the project.

How's the new axle/gearing treating you? I've been thinking about it for two weeks lol.

So far, I'm really enjoying them. As I previously posted, the change in feel is more like a slingshot effect, versus a neck jerking effect, upon hard acceleration, and that is just fine with me. When just tooling along, if you come to an upgrade or hill, a tiny amount of additional gas pedal is all that is needed to keep speed current, and the motor does not even feel like it is being challenged.

I'd do this conversion again in a heartbeat.

I have done it both ways. I can do it faster and easier going through the timing cover now.
Dropping the oil pan has the advantage of being able to clean out the pan and look for cam bearing chunks.

So ordered some more Lasfit Bulbs and PNP Hyper flash fixers for the Turn signals bulbs. I think I'm going to pin out the wire harness and remove the parking running light from the turn signal to match the way the Hybrid Tahoe Tails function. I like the function of the turn signal only lightening when turning. If what I'm seeing is correct the brown wire is the only wire that connects both bulbs. Whole reason for this is so I can put the white D Pillars back on since the Hybrids are a different shape. Also they dont fit the bumper and it bothers me.

So the function of the New Tahoe Tails would be the following
TOP: Running Light/Brake
Middle: Reverse ofc
Bottom: Turn Signal Only no Running light.

Exactly like the pic below.

Repairing the bolts on the rear applique… whoever designed this is special. I did this a few years back but they broke loose again. Used much more (and I think stronger) epoxy this time (Gorilla Ultimate). Hopefully it’ll be good now.

Also changing out my rear camera. I had one that was built into a license plate frame. I didn’t really care for the look so I’m going with something more OEM-looking. It’s a Jensen BUCAM100J. Seems well made (metal and has some weight to it) and not very expensive. Picture quality looks nicer than my other one.

I ordered some custom license plates that’ll be here in a few weeks. Didn’t want to cover one up with a big ugly frame.
