Turned off the automatic rear tailgate. It's been 2 times now that I have looked outside in my driveway or walked out of a store to find it wide open..smh. If anyone else has had this happen you know the feeling. I guess the button is susceptible to getting perfectly squeezed in my pocket.
I don't have an auto rear tailgate, but I've started the truck plenty of times to see "rear access open" because I hit that button for the glass. Fortunately the struts are a little worn out so it doesn't fully pop open lol

This been happening to me lately. I got a new FOB and I guess the buttons are pretty sensitive compared to the old one.

fob's should have a hold or keylock feature, especially on these new ones with push to start, then you wouldn't need to use a faraday bag.
a simple slider on the thin side would suffice in most cases

Received the new grille but it’s kinda meh. I do like the woven design better but hate how they did the bowtie surround. Feels pretty cheap (like my current aftermarket one) so I’ve decided to use my original.

The quality and design is much better and it’s what I should’ve done originally. Just separated the chrome surrounds to sand and paint them. That was fun. Love prying on 20 yr old plastic tabs! There are a couple tiny cracks that I’ll try to repair first (I didn’t crack it while removing)

Been scrounging the net for someone who did a DIY "Webasto" aka "Ebersprächer" or in normal language mounted a fuel based heater on one of these things for easing up cold starts and made the compartment livable. The kits are dirt cheap and would certainly add a lot of value for winter use (wife's Jeep has one and yeah not kidding it rocks). Thing is you can get all the parts for a working unit for peanuts these days and well I was thinking *someone* must've done it right?

Those are quite rare in the US. The only time I see them are in grey market BMWs and Mercedes imported in the '70s and '80s.

What state are you in?

I'm just happy that I can remote-start my car and the seats are warmed up when I get in, plus the steering wheel takes 20 seconds to get warm.

Ah, right. For some reason this website fails to display the same via the mobile version vs. desktop.
it is compacted for mobile, in the android mobile browser there is a check box under setting to "show desktop site" if ever need be. Then it will show up normal just smaller, then just pinch/squeeze or double tap to zoom in.

I wish they all had this.

it's a bit of an issue on the volt forums. if you hold unlock all the windows roll down. lots of people walk out to their car when it's raining only to find all 4 windows down. damn remotes work almost a 1/4 mile away too.
I've walked out of work to find mine down, luckily it wasn't raining but still sucks. locking remote would be very handy. even if you just had to hold done 2 buttons for a short time or something.

maybe someone will install a finger print sensor on the back like our cell phonea these days.

Dang I miss having a heated steering wheel. Anyhow the kit looks something like this, and is available for a couple hundred since the patent ran out. It's basically a water heater that you connect to cooling lines that draws fuel from your gas tank. Remote controlled and very efficient for extremely cold weather and cold starts in general (heats up the entire block in advance)

I'm considering going for it, but I'll have to measure out some stuff, hence if it has already been done (simpsons did it?) It'd be an easier install for me.

I had something Similar in my TDI Golf years ago but it wasnt fuel based it was a 120 Plug in. Lots of diesels in the states have the block/oil heater option if you live in colder climates.
My current TDI Does not have the blockheater option and I can tell shes ornery when it gets to single Digit F Temps. (Sorry I only know Freedom Units for Temps)

Thanks! Very nice idea with the separate fuel tank with the filling point next to the regular gas cap!

We hit -31 Fahrenheit yesterday morning so long story short I didn't even bother to try and start the car (or go outside for that matter). Today is better at -11F but still, cold starts are a bit iffy this time of the year.

I have slept in my rig at -30. Considering the vehicle has zero insulation it did good. 10 degrees and above it will cook you out.
It will run for 4 days on 2 1/2 gallons of fuel.
