Have a 2005 Tahoe with 5.3-has 155k original miles. What’s the best brand of oil and should I go to a high mileage full synthetic?

that things still in diapers... so no. stick with the same oil you have been using unless it starts to use a inordinate amount between oil changes, smokes etc..

Any Group4 (Poly Alpha Olefin) fully synthetic motor oil, 0W30 or 5W30.
Ran out of Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Full Synthetic right around the time I converted to Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W30.
After two oil changes my mech asked if I'd bought a brand new dipstick - I did NOT. V R&P works.

Pics of the truck, please. If we can't see it, it does not exist.

You are already receiving sage advice from the knowledgeable folks on this Forum.

What is REALLY important is your interval between oil changes. Change your oil and filter every 5000 miles or less.

Run an ACDelco filter every 3000 miles. I use the longer PF61. Then you run literally any 5w30 oil with the API Starburst mark on it.

No it does not have to be synthetic, regular old Dino Sauce is fine .

Trust me I that is all this one gets...

I will edit and say at 300k it got put on a diet of 10w30 and at 400k it get 10w30 in winter and 10w40 in the summer. Only because at hot idle the pressure gauge shows lower than I like with any of the 30 weights.

This applies to 99% of all engines. My 95 ford has over 330k on the clock and it gets a Motorcraft filter and whatever is on sale that has the API Starburst.... that includes Straight 40 in the summer. I got a couple cases of it for 89 cents a quart so if it is above 50 degrees that is what it gets lol.
