How are you gonna deal with that one corner?
I tried jacking up the front with a piece of wood under the corner, and jumped up and down on my pushbumper.
It only bent the corner slightly. Hammered it.. ugly.. Used some painters tape to mitigate the damage, couldn't find the gorilla tape.
The bends need stretching out. It was wavy and I used two large crescents to even it out some.

If you want it clean looking, another option is to cut off the corner and drill a new hole thats more centered. (Or just leave it hanging down)
Its thick (1/8" or little more) and it doesnt flatten as easily as sheet metal. Maybe I need a harder surface, it was backed up by a 4x4 as I hammered on it.

As @Doubeleive mentioned, don't overtighten! I stripped one of my bolts (it stays in, we'll see if it falls out) but plan to nutsert or enlarge the threads. Never had a problem before, because I didnt want to squash the plastic cover. Now trying to cinch down the aluminum cover... Ooops! I thought it was the antiseize..

The bolts that are holding my xfer case skidplate have thicker washers than the ones that held the splash shield.
It's not completely flat on that corner bolt, it's not overlapping the suspension bracket.
I just didn't want that fold to go bending further into the curved bottom. Tightening the bolt more will strip the threads before it flattens the hole..
Will work on it more next time..

I had new vinyl cut for my new metal door handles and got those put on today.

This mod makes the handles look more like the '15+ door handles.

I had it on the old handles but when I replaced them all recently they were back to plain chrome again.
Nice little touch on the WDT added to the door handles. Me likey.

Started tearing out the door interior panels as I'm replacing door handles and stuff and ended up with a few broken tabs, perfect time to test out the new heat stapler.

10/10, must have tool for repairing cracked/torn apart plastic

Also got the right side mirror blinker working again, just needed some contact cleaner.

I've always wondered if those were worth investing in.
Looks like I may pick one up when I come across a deal.

They are eyesores but it's efficient. For stuff like ATV's (always breaking fenders and stuff on those), lawn mowers or just places where you can hide the staples existance they are pretty great. Actually considering stapling my broken dashboard and covering it with a dash mat, cracked dash noise is driving me crazy.

My dash cracked on the passenger side up by the windshield vents.
The center speaker is obviously not supported by anything other than the thin dash cover so I pulled the speaker out and stuffed a bunch of foam under the speaker.
The center speaker no longer bounces and makes noise over bumps.

I bought one of those on Amazon for about $20 and repaired the cracked dash in my 08 Tahoe. It worked great but I suggest having a helper you trust apply the staples on the bottom while you hold the cracks together and watch from the topside. I did it myself and although I held the cracks together on the backside as I hot stapled it and the cracks were invisible on the backside, they were slightly visible on the front. Otherwise it came out great. I don’t even notice the cracks anymore.

It was only $20? Damn great deal. Did it come with a lot if staples?

got some cooling bits...
IMG_0460.jpeg

New replacement OEM thermostat sometimes lets me get to 203degF before kicking open and temp drops to 194..
Seemed like my old one was more consistent.
Left is original 210k mile thermostat. Aisin made in China, Vernet Calorstat made in France, look identical. Motorad made in Israel.
Far right is a 174degF Motorad, which looks like a Lingenfelter. All the Motorad seem to get bad reviews...

I lied. Only one thousand. it seemed like thousands when they spilled all over the floor because of the lousy containers they come in. :( But it is a great deal, you just need to find a place to store the stuff.

Thanks for that. I put the blue one on my wish list, because blue is my favorite and tomorrow is my birthday.
