Installed the grill. I’m done with the front end as far as the look I was trying to accomplish. That’s what I was looking for. I ordered a black billet bowtie but I color matched the original on a whim and like it better.

Edit: there is on e more thing- what are you guys doing for LED fogs? @Doubeleive Wes , don’t you have some fairly budget lights that you use that fit in the holes and work good?

Those fogs look exactly like the Z71 fogs on a gmt800.

Just got around to replacing those parking brake shoes. Fun little brain teaser how to get them in and out without removing the wheel hub. Having done both sides now I can proudly claim that its possible without any form of stretching or bending.
Even made a little cheat sheet using MSpaint. Let me know if I should post it somewhere else as well.
The brake shoe brain teaser.jpg

As for the part I went with AcDelco gold. Usually their stuff is good (their mounting kit was great!) but this is NOT premium finish. tested out the fit loosely inside the brake disc before mounting and it rolled freely, but I really needed to pry them apart to fit it on the adjuster. Brake disc wouldnt go on so I disassembled and noticed the edges that touch the adjuster thingamajib had a horrible uneven finish. One millimeter off of each end with a Dremel and they fit perfectly at minimum adjustment. Final score 4/10 since I paid a lot more for these compared to whatever else was available at Rockauto.

isn't that the way there supposed to be done? same way I have done them, who pulls an axle to do parking brakes?

Perhaps I´m bad at squares and rectangles but it took me almost 20 minutes to figure out the first one. Perhaps doing it in Park made it more of a challenge or something. :D
I just pry it open a smidge, then slide it on like in your photos
pulling the axles would require draining the rear diff, pulling the g80 and clips, etc
far far more work.
the fun part comes when trying to adjust said new parking brake.....

I had new vinyl cut for my new metal door handles and got those put on today.

This mod makes the handles look more like the '15+ door handles.

I had it on the old handles but when I replaced them all recently they were back to plain chrome again.

Made a ton of progress this weekend, prbly just 2 more hrs of work until I can try to start the car :hands: That said, I purchased my "GM OEM" lifter trays from Cam Motion. They were packaged like the below. Since the trays are notable a source of failure, should I be nervous about these or am I over-thinking? Anyone else received them packaged like this?

- They did have an 8-10 digit (idr) part # on the bottom, a circle with raised dots all around it, and a number (like a manufacturing mth date or something).

I think I forgot to mention I installed the color matched mirror caps, door handles and Esky roof rack. Yes I painted the chromed metal centers on the rack. The only chrome left on the exterior is that thin strip on the running boards. That’s next. It’s completely debadged now too and no side moldings. Rear billet bow tie will be here today.

Mine are just starting I noticed. I suppose it will only get worse so one point for removal.

Kinda what I thought most people feel. One more point for removal.

I kinda do too tbh but I think I’ll like the look without them also. But one point to keep them.

I’m still deciding but I’m pretty sure that the look I’m going for wont look right with them on so it’s a 90% chance they’re coming off. I suppose it’s going to eat up an eraser wheel or two, that looks like a lot of adhesive unless they’re just held on with strips of the tape. Anybody done it that can share?
Looks really good

Truck looks good.

What kind of prep did you do to the chrome section of the roof rails before paint?

I had vinyl wrapped the chrome of the side steps on my K2XX and it surprisingly held up well through years of Ohio weather.

Well, its too late now……
Haha absolutely. Although their site is quite misleading IMO, labeling the product description as "GM LS Lifter Trays". Their product ID #LT001 is also sold on Summit Racing's site ($40 for the set of 4 as I paid directly from Cam Motion's website).
Looking back at photos I do believe the stamping on the bottom was "12595365" which is the GM part # for the correct lifters here; RockAuto sells them of course ($12 per), not sure I'd personally buy them off AMZN but they're there too. Time will tell if the Cam Motion trays here suffice or not...

Up here to the right
So after driving this pig around for a week or so ive come to the conclusion that rear has been on its way out for a long time. This hoe has had a clunk for as long as i can remember (putting it in gear, on the gas from a coast, and from a stop) and maybe its in my head but it feels a little better (peppier?) from a dead stop… i didn’t do u joints or anything else, took 1 rear out and swapped another in…. I dunno, i could be making it all up but…. Thats that. :)

View attachment 462566I'll be darned, it actually worked! Feels nice having 3 keys and 3 fobs instead of just one.

So 2 uses left eh? That might actually be a way to get the money back.
yep, they work as long as you follow the directions and both the vehicle battery is charged and fobs have working battery's
sold a whole bunch of them before.
and the catch is in the fine print, 3 uses only then it goes in the garbage can

I wouldn't put it past the service manual to call for pulling the axles. :p
manual says to retract the adjuster then place the open end of the parking brake shoe over the axle flange and rotate it until the shoe has cleared the flange.
it does say to disconnect the cable from the actuator

I used a DA sander starting with 220 and down to 600 then SEM self etching primer for metal, then wet sanded that with 600 then 800. Then 3 coats of base and 3 coats of a 2-part clear coat.
