BTR recommends 2500-3k stall. Id try to hit in in the middle. If you're towing, stay on the lower end because of heat. Also, it will depend on the gear, if you change it. More converter for lower gear. Also, you can grab a 278mm for less rotating mass. I wouldn't recommend going with the 278 if you're towing alot. Smaller converter, less fluid, more heat. If you don't have an external trans cooler, you'll probably need to add one. My avalanche got up to 214 climbing the mountain coming home from work in knoxville in the hottest part of the summer. Thats with 26-2800.I think I may go with this torque converter.

Cheapest conventional you can find. I think I usually drive it a little, 25 miles or so and change it. Then go 500 and do it again. I usually buy whatever oil change special autozone or whatever has. If they don't have one, some super tech CONVENTIONAL and delco filter.What break in oil do you guys use or should I just fill it with the castrol edge 5w30 and just change it at 500 miles. Then so on and so forth?
I didn't know if they offered higher stall speed for that same price or not. That's why I mentioned the stall speed specifically, not the brand.I have to do what's in my budget. So all I can afford is the cyclone torque converter.
I don't recommend the zpak for heavy trucks or SUV. Just replace with borg heavy duty frictions and while you're in there, replace the accumulator pistons with the sonnax pinless, and do the wide band on 2nd gear.I guess if I'm going to upgrade the torque converter then I'm going to also upgrade the sun shell, install the corvette servo, and the sonnax super good 4th gear servo, also I think I might have a raybestos zpak installed.
I'm not sure what local shops charge to do those things but the parts are really not that expensive. I imagine you're not inclined to do the work yourself? I can send you a really good video that goes over tear down and assembly. You have to buy some specialty tools that would probably eat up any savings from diyEverybody is quoting at least 1k to put just the motor alone in. I'm scared to check and see the price on the transmission upgrades.
