The A-pillar being black doesn't work on the GM SUVs. My focus is on the B-, C- and D-pillars.

Just know it'll make your interior feel smaller and more closed in. Not good if you're a claustrophobe.

I balanced mine like a see-saw on some jack stands to find the center of balance sans motor.

I do that with my floor jack every time I jack up one entire side at a time. I marked it once but realized later it depended on how full the gas tank is.

I learned where I should position it on my lift. Ended up being about 9.5" back from where I normally center it.

It took three tries and was still slightly rear-heavy, but I could lift it with one finger in the hitch. I feel that was close enough and didn't warrant another dance with the jack and stands.

If I ever lift it or any Tahoe again with no engine, I'm gonna remove the third row seats and drain or add fuel to put it at the 1/4 tank mark. I drew a mark on the floor for reference for this project.

Turns out my estimate of being 8”-12” further back was pretty damn close then.

You do know your CG will move back a tiny bit more when you drain your transmission, right?

Yeah, but not enough to exert anything the lift's anchors won't hold!

You were pretty close. But a little bit made quite a difference. Out of the three tries, the jack and stands were positioned within a ~4" area.
