I got the headlights today but they were TYC not Depo. I bought them through Amazon but I looked up the third party seller on Google and called them. They told me they were temporarily out of the Depo and sent these instead and tried to tell me these were more expensive. I told him I was using them for retrofits and I knew the Depo's would work but wasn't sure about these. He checked and said he could send me the Depo so I printed out a return label he emailed me. He said as soon as the label is in the system he would ship the right lights. I hate companies that pull a switcheroo. Sneaky bastards.

Tyc separates well. Don't be discouraged. Just let them give you back some coin.

I sent them back since I wasn't sure if the projectors would fit right. It's my first retrofit and I didn't want to chance it since I have no clue what I'm doing lol. He's supposed to ship the Depo's today.

I just finished replacing my steering position sensor and for the first time since owning this truck, every single dash warning is gone. I can't actually believe it. That sensor fixed the stabilitrack and traction control. Sweeeeeeeet! That was a chore mostly because I'd never pulled a steering column before and my shoulder still hurts when I get into some of those positions. But it's done. Checked it with the Tech 2 afterwards and it reads correct. And yes I used duct tape instead of the stupid GM steering wheel lock tool since I didn't have it.

Dammit. I figured since I'm on a roll, I'd try programming my transmission tune again. I downloaded the setup files again from my e-mail, figuring maybe something was wrong the first time. I re-ran setup which erased the tune files in the autocal and replaced them with the fresh ones from setup again. I went out and loaded the modified TCM files. Trans went into limp mode again. Traction control and stabilitrack warnings back on but this time it's because there's no communication with the trans. I know now the modified TCM tune file is bad. So I loaded the stock TCM tune file back in....trans is still in limp mode, no communication with TCM according to the Tech 2. AAArrrrgggghhhhhh! The stock TCM file is bad now too. I must have a corrupted quick setup file from my e-mail. I called BlackBear and asked them to look into it. I sent them an e-mail 2 days ago about the modified file but not it's more urgent since both files for the trans are bad. Hopefully I don't need a new TCM although they're only about $80 and I have a Tech 2 to program it to my VIN with.

I had a Monte SS that I held together--literally--with duct tape!

A big shout-out to Justin @BlackBearPerf ! I was ready to order a TCM, figuring mine was fried for some reason since the Tech 2 wouldn't communicate with it and the trans was in limp mode (no shift position indicator, service stabilitrack and traction control warnings lit up again) but he said it couldn't be dead from flashing the tune. He said I could use my laptop and "pass-through flash it". I actually had a used TCM ordered on Ebay and had given my VIN and CC info but called him back and cancelled. Justin sent me a file to use with my laptop along with instructions on how to do it. I had my laptop with the autocal connected to it and the truck, my tablet for reading the instructions, and my phone to take pictures of any messages in case there was trouble. That was a lot of stuff. All it said was good. Trans is back, warnings are gone again. Yay!

Justin IS the man! He tuned my Suburban back in 2010 and it's been running great ever since then. He even did a free tune update for me after I changed tire size and after I added E-fans. Now my fan turn on and off temperature setpoints are spot on, my speedo is accurate, and my truck runs and shifts great! It's been 8 solid years of fun driving now since I have it tuned. The Blackbear Performance tune was hands down the BEST mod money l have spent on my truck to date.

I was just out cleaning my gauges and installing a couple accessory plug covers in my dash. The engine was running and I was listening to the stereo enjoying no warning lights and suddenly the traction control light was on....momentary feeling of oh shit not again...then I remembered the button for it was right there by the accessory plugs...I had hit it by mistake. Idiot. I tell you, when you've been driving with those warnings on for what seems like forever (the PO had them for over a year) you get jumpy lol. I hate warning lights.

Gathering parts for the headlights. The TRS retrofit order will be here next Friday; they just shipped today. The Depo's will ship tomorrow so they should arrive about the same time. I made my resistor packs for the front switchbacks which came today. These Morimoto's are bad mf's but they should be for $45 a pair. The Acme's are cool too; both are aluminum housings and solid as hell. Oh, and the color match spray paint and adhesion promoter came yesterday.

I did the front turn signal LED conversion today but ran into trouble trying to use both sets of switchbacks. I had to decide between the Morimoto's or the Acme's and guess which won. I ended up with the Morimoto's in the lower slot and white 3157 LED's in the upper slots. And funny thing is, if the key is turned on but the engine isn't running they still hyperflash. But with the engine running they don't. Unless I run 2 switchbacks on each side. Then they do no matter what. I tried to make the wiring look factory but it may actually look better. I'll get a nighttime vid later. The DS headlight only had one bolt holding it in. It was missing the one behind the grill and the one inside the inner fender. The passenger at least had 2 bolts.

Why do leds do that. I noticed my interior lights do same... well not hyperflash but if you hit the map light with no key its dim and flashy but if you turn knob for all it works fine without key. Works normally when running...i think @Fosscore mentioned that also... its just dumb...

I thought I had all the LED/ retrofit situation either completed or on order. Interior LED's; license plate LED's; CHMSTL LED's; backup LED's; tail/rear turn LED's; front turn/marker light LED's; headlights will be retrofit HID soon. All check. Tonight I remembered fog lights...and the truck has these weird ones, 5202. Bulb and socket all in one. So I ordered these JDM Astar 6000k ones. That should be it.

The guys at BlackBear must be busy and working late. Justin sent me my tune files at 8:00 tonight. I loaded them into the autocal and will install then in the morning. I can't wait to see what this 4.8 will do with a good tune and a good IAT sensor. He told me he's never seen one fail and not throw a code like that one did. I would have never known it was fried if he hadn't alerted me to the reading he saw. Anyway it might be awhile before I test the tune since it's supposed to start raining again and I don't want to drive this thing in the rain and have to clean it again. Because show truck lol. View attachment 193675

Boost and lots of it from what I read.

I really like the way this truck sits and boost that 4.8. Get a set of heads, cam, and intake. It will push 600+ to the tires. A friend of mine is getting his bagged 00 ext cab back on the road after cutting out stock tubs for 26s. He's staying with 22s for now hoping some traction can be found when adding turbos after the summer. We got a lot of the parts picked out already.
