OK, Bought a 07 with a couple problems today.

Goodness, score on z55 struts.

BTdieselwork makes a product that allows adjustments to the TPMS settings. The module pops into the OBD reader. Along with displaying / removing any DTC through the console it gives about 10+ other updates.

I have already adjusted my TPMS pressure settings using my scanner. They were set at 45psi. I set them down to 32PSI as 45psi is just too stiff for my liking.
I will however increase tire pressure when towing or notice abnormal tire ware. I generally run 35psi front and 32psi rear On Suburban type vehicles.
Running these pressures i have never seen uneven tire ware across the tire contact patch.

The BTdieselworks thing seems WAY overpriced to me for what it does. 50 bucks maybe but not $300

I'm guessing you're adjusting at what psi the warnings go off?

I have a Snap On Solus pro. Bought it used from a retiring mechanic near me for $300. Lots of keys and he said recent software. I never checked as it just works for what i need.
I do not know how high up in years it will work on but it does do everything i have needed on my 2014 Avalanche.

My suspension is Z55. After doing a bunch of reading and research i can not figure out what the sub code's really mean. 6JL and 7JL.
I know they mean left and right but is there anymore meaning then that?
The reason i ask is the struts i bought are listed to fit my Z55 Denali at GM parts giant but does not include the code 6JL or 7JL, so im confused.

I more think of it as fixing neglect for most things i have fixed with more to go still.
Post #68 is i list of stuff i have fixed or still needs to be fixed and update as i get it done. Just too cold to do it outside. 15 deg out right now.

I feel ya, we’re getting our first true blast of winter last night into today and tomorrow. It hasn’t snowed a ton yet up here but it’s cold and stormy for sure so far. Definitely makes it harder on truck maintenance.

Think I have the 6JL and 7JL code's figured out. It's for the springs.
6, 7 are left and right. Some places list it as 6 left and 7 right. Other places list it as 6 or 7 meaning either side.
Looking at pictures i do not think springs are wound left hand and right hand and can go on either side.
JL, is the code for the spring itself. Different codes denote what the spring is used for like 1500, 5.3, 18in wheels few options would need a lighter spring rate then a 1500, 6.2, 20in wheels full option.
There are about 20 different codes for different springs and there is no way i can figure out each one.

GM did a really good job of camouflaging their spring data. Factory installed springs are spec’d for L & R and they later contradict themselves and spec them for either side. You can also use the paint on them to differentiate. Sometimes the tags are still legible.

RockAuto has a pretty good list attached to the z55 shock selection of the RPO codes associated with them. Lately I’ve been seeing more and more GM front springs for z55 pop up on R/A & parts geek.

RA does not list a spring for GM for 6JL/7JL.
Im going Moog HD springs for all 4 and then the RC 3.5 in kit. Mostly for the upper control arms but it has most of what i need.

I thought my high beam relay was broke and I needed to replace the under hood fuse box to fix it. Turns out all I needed to do was push the switch forward instead of pulling back as he had mentioned in an old thread I was reading.

Driving my wife's 2014 Avalanche I notice the IP lights are always on during the day when lights set to auto even on bright sunny days.
The IP lights on my 2007 Yukon never are on during the day when set to auto. Normally i turn on park lights so i can see the IP during the day.
On a sunny day It's very hard to see the gauges and speedo. Here is a pic i took today around noon with truck running i took of the IP.
Is this normal for an 07 IP and later changed to always on in later years?

It *seems* to me that there could be 3 modes for the backlight.
Daylight, backlight bright, guages bright.
??dusk??, backlight is dim, guages have no backlight!
Nighttime, backlight is dimmed, guages are dimmed.

0-3000 ohms on the signal wire (white) from BCM to ground will give you daytime bright backlighting.
5000-15,000? ohms will be nighttime dimmer.
It will switch when dipping below 3k ohms, or climbing above 5k ohms.

When I wire up some resistors and switch from dim to bright (10k -> 680 ohms), the guages will blackout for ~3seconds before going full bright.
But the DIC display does not blackout. (Don't remember if there is a delay or not.. don't think so)
Switching from 680 ohms -> 10k ohms, the display & guages go from bright to dim, with no blackout or delay.

Does your avalanche also have a dashmat? Perhaps try swapping light sensors and see if the behaviour changes?
