Only one broken bolt on exhaust manifold, Y pipe was a bit pain ended up cutting it off. Everything else no problems so far.

Not bad, good thing you took the heads off, easy fix... Hell of a lot easier than trying to fix it on the truck.

Definitely don't even think about reusing head gaskets as cheap as they are lol... Which ones are you going to use? Replacing most, if not all gaskets I hope?

This truck is going to be awesome when you're done, you will not be disappointed... Torque converter is going to make it drive way different in a good way and all that extra horsepower will be moving that 6k LB beast pretty quick.

Congrats, good luck and keep the pictures coming...

I don't see ARP Head bolts on this list... If you plan on cranking this thing up, highly suggested. You don't need studs, but the bolts are good insurance for lifting a head. Anything over 10lbs of boost should have bolts or studs.

*Just noticed you got a BTR Kit... Looks like new OEM Hardware which is fine. Better than nothing and ARP not needed unless you are 14psi or more

Heads were coming off anyway for new lifters and trays, all new gaskets and bolts, actually have two sets of gaskets one from BTR and I bought AC Delco.

Some more goodies showed up while I was gone

AC Delco professional water pump, also have 160 degree thermostat.

IMG_1089.jpeg

Heat sleeve for plugs, not sure if I am going to use it, will see when installing

IMG_1090.jpeg

Engine cooler lines, Transmission ones have been changed 2 weeks ago, and the Y connection heard it was weak so got new one.

IMG_1091.jpeg

Don't have picture of but all new AC Delco radiator hoses.

I did get ceramic coating on my headers but also bought exhaust heat wrap, thinking about wrapping Y pipe specially at the point where it crosses transmission pan.

Just FYI... Dorman sells this...

https://www.dormanproducts.com/gsearch.aspx?year=2008&make=Chevrolet&model=Suburban%201500&origin=YMM&q=Y connector

Which is a metal replacement for the plastic Y-connector down by the thermostat housing.

I am a fan of replacing plastic with metal when ever possible.. still waiting for Gruven to get the metal heater core Y-connectors into production.

I wasn't suggesting reusing the head gaskets. I've been debating a YouTuber who is saying it's ok, but why?! They are way cheap.i can't see this build cutting corners now...

I was just looking for something like this, does anyone make full silicon hose kit?
