has anyone noticed a high amp draw from the cooling fans when they turn on. enough that it will stop the fans from cycling on with the a/c? I seem to have more problems from this swap than anyone. I have a DC power 270a alternator so power shouldn't be my issue. could my fans be bad. they are from an 05 yukon and i'm using the nelson harness.

I know mine draw alot, but haven't given me any issues at all yet. I'm using a stock 145a alt with a smaller pulley. I wonder what your alt puts out at idle, I know some of the high amp alts put out less than stock at idle and that will definitely cause a problem.

It's supposed to put out 200amps cold and 180a hot at idle and 270a max. I've had one of those horrible lagging alts and this one isn't like that. I'm going to move some of my big 3 wiring around and see if it helps. My front ground wire to batt may be the issue.

I moved and changed that front ground wire to the side with the efans ground and it seemed to help. Anything to soften that initial hit is what I really need. It's fine once they are running.

Without the big 3 I'm sure I would have melted some wire by now.

That was going to be my next question, which model number fans did you buy. Apparently there are 3 different ones that fit. I remember reading about that on the reviews. I think I bought the 620-653

I have the flex a lite fan kit and mine pulls 35 amps with both fans on high.

I'm running a smaller pulley on my 145a alternator and I'm still having light dimming issues at idle when I have everything on (both efans, both ac blowers on high, lights, fog lights, and a small amp).

I really need to go see how many amps im pulling to see if my alternator is just getting weak. As far as I know its original and it has 135k miles.

anyone sell the harness for the fans?

I think it's ls1fans.net or something like that. Look it up.

While not 115, I park in mine all the time in 101 ish weather. I have 2 kids, so if I run inside the store for a bit, my wife and kids will stay in the truck sometimes. Never had a heat issue. Also my ac stays ice cold while idling because of the efans too! I noticed mine are alot quieter than others too. Our 2013 burb is much louder. I wonder if mine are going into high mode. Not worried about it cause it stays cool.

What amps do you have. Cause they will say 100 amp fuse, but unless your at bass comps with test tones at .5 ohms, they will never actually pull that. If they did it would pop the fuse.

03 and up trucks have better control over the fans using the pcm so it may not be an issue of the big amp draw when both fans kick into high. The 99-02 trucks tap into the ac compressor and go full high each time the ac compressor cycles and if you are already at temp it starts to draw a lotta amps since both fans are cycling on and off of high mode. I've since changed to new 2011-12 escalade fans and may have found a problem with my factory ground wire, but I'm in the process of a motor swap amd won't know what's what until it all together.. if the new fans don't help then I'm gonna figure out how to fully wire my 00 truck into the pcm.

I have the harness from Nelson and it's held up to beating. Can't say the same for the relays..

Moral of the story is never buy electrical junk yard parts unless u can fully test them..

I found a deal today at a yard for factory fans and factory harness for $175. I've already got my tune.... So my question is, do I need anything else to get this mod going?

You should be just fine with that. You might look at a smaller alternator pulley but that's about ir

Does the factory harness hook up just like the aftermarket? The guy was saying you just plug it into the fuse panel. Also, I can't remember where to get the smaller pulleys.
