for whatever it is worth I have a pioneer nex (wireless) android auto/dvd/nav, I used the iDatalink maestro-rr.
the NEX has eq, front/rear/sub crossover hi-pass/lo-pass. dual zone.
the maestro-rr retains the bose DSP and front/rear fade, rse, steering wheel controls. (has other expansion capabilities)
the rse all works, can have all 3 screens going on the same thing or have the rear separate
disabled the bose ANC, added 2 jl audio sub and amp
everything has worked flawless for years
if the ON-x app works with Android auto then it would work on the NEX
the nex and maestro also gives me OBDii support with various gauges, tpms, etc

the nex onboard nav is not user friendly (like almost all factory nav) but it would work in a pinch
the kenwood wireless units have garmin built in so any onboard nav should be more user friendly.
If I am traveling I just use a dedicated garmin gps anyway because cell signals do not exist in the mountains here if you go anywhere off the beaten path.
I have the garmin tread for off-road, it has basically every map you can think of or you can add it.

I did put a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX in a 1998 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 but it went with the truck when i sold it. Was good stereo for sure.
IMHO, I believe ATOTO S8 is as good as the other "name" brands. I have had 3 or 4 and all worked flawless for me and sounded great.
I do not care about On Star as i have never once used it in any vehicle i have had.
There has been no one sitting in the back seat for at least 10 years, including the wife and i. So i don't care about it either.
With On-X i use it when going someplace off road im unfamiliar with and i just download the high rez maps for that area and the radio has a gps antenna and always shows me exactly where im at.
For what i need and want the meastro is overpriced. I got the Crux unit that will do what i want for $73 bucks. If i need RSE the add on cable is $18.
I already use Torque pro on my phone if i don't wanna drag the scanner out. Running torque on the atoto is no problem.

Anyway, got the Power bass speakers in the doors but did not change the tweeters out yet though. Sounds way better than the old stock speakers.

Also got the heated steering wheel hooked up and wired to the factory location. Making progress, slow but sure.

More pictures of the wheel!
I'm curious if the padding is thicker than un-heated...

Feels about the same to me for diameter, but the old wheel feels solid when griping it. The heated wheel feels almost like there is a small amount of padding under the leather.

I know the center dash speaker is 3.5in but i can't find any info on the ohm rating. I would imagine after 18 years it's probably shot and want to replace it.
Anyone know the ohm rating of that speaker?

Not gm oem bose systems. I think other manufactures also use weird ohm ratings for the oem systems.

that cover comes with off and then it's just 4 screws and you can look on the bottom (sometimes there ink stamped with the ohm's) or just ohm test it with a meter

lol, Another reason to avoid Blose.

Bose uses lower ohm's to get more power out of a smaller amplifier, which is useful in automotive applications
just like in most home theater amplifiers you can switch your speakers to 4ohm instead of 8ohm and get almost double the power out of the amplifier
and just like I have my JL's wired down to 1ohm so i get the maximum power out of my amp. (not all amps can handle 1ohm)

There's much more [or less] to Bose's success in home audio.

I went to separates for my home stereo many years ago. I'd never stress my amp like you suggest. It's just begging to overheat it; which can not only fry the amp, it can fry speakers.

I learned that the hard way, 25-30 years ago, when I fried [protected] tweeters twice.

There's enough variety available that what you propose can be done, but, in my experience, it's not wise. I'd suggest a better/bigger amp.

I consider my stereo lower level high end- Rotel amp and preamp with Paradigm speakers.

I typically configure my audio systems with lots of top end head space, powerwise, for both auto and home systems. I purchase power amps with twice the power that I expect to use, and nothing in the system gets stressed (unless my wife is not home and I turn it up). At home, I have multiple power amps totaling 2625 rms watts, but I'm also powering 43 drivers/speakers in 12 separate enclosures. This system never gets stressed from underpowering the speakers.

The center dash speaker is 3.35 ohm.
Trying to decide if it's worth replacing or unhooking it and forgetting about it.

Someone just shared this within the past 2 weeks I think. I cannot find the post for the life of me but they said they were happy with it. I like it because it kind of retains the OEM look

I have a cheapy Amazon one right now that has everything you’re looking for but the volume knob is acting up and the CarPlay disconnects every so often for no reason. Looking to replace mine soon

This is what I have. The SWTNVIN android radio wit CD/DVD player. I still love loading CD’s

Looks like a factory radio. I want to go with a 10in screen. CD/DVD player is cool but i don't even own a CD. A few DVDs that i would never watch in the Yukon.

I agree, too much amp for your speakers' rating is better than too little.

This is a popular one I see being sold at the local car stereo installation shops.
