Thinking I will skip the trans cooler lines to save time. Don't wanna get hung up on something like that since I need to get this thing going while it's still barely warm enough.

Oil cooler line will be a simple swap with the engine out and it's def leaking, so I will do that.

Are the trans cooler lines doable later on with a 4x4?

I wasn't ready to replace my trans cooler lines and tried to do it after I got my new engine in. In the end I cut the old ones to get them out and cut the new ones and added 3/8 compression unions back in. Do yourself a favor and do the trans cooler lines with the engine out.

Also based on my recent experience examine your catalytic converters while you can easily see them.

Yup, been decided I will do the lines when the engine is out. My cats are good, they're like new catted Kooks.

I will also be putting back on my Corsa. Was going to sell it and go 3.5, but I think the Kooks into a straight through 3" exhaust will be plenty.

I approve of how your replacing everything when you're in there.

Lol, scope creep is real. I just know from experience working on engines for half my life that the thing you didn't replace or you skimped out on always comes back to bite you.

I always spend a little extra and get the better stuff.

Testifying. Replacing my oil pressure sensor today instead of with the engine on a stand in front of me.

Day 1 in the books. Went from 9 to 3 with an hour break, so about 5 hours of work.

Got everything removed, all that is left is remove the bellhousing bolts and lift the engine out. Lot of work! Tomorrow morning first thing, I will remove the bellhousing bolts and hopefully it just lifts right out.

Tomorrow goal will be to get the block back in the car, the new cooling lines connected, and get the transmission connected. Those are the difficult things. After that it's just basic re-assembly.

Those bellhousing bolts on my car mostly had studs extending from the nut. A normal socket wouldn't work. A deepwell socket ran my stuff back against the firewall. I ended up cutting a 15mm deepwell socket down to the shortest depth that cleared the studs. I guess I now have a midwell socket.

Of course many of those studs have 13mm nuts holding wires, pipes, hoses, and the tranny dipstick. Those work fine with a standard socket mostly but in a couple instances 13 and 15mm ratchet box wrenches were the tool.

Thank you, I will make something work. The pressure plate bolts were on TIGHT, I had to put my flywheel lock tool which only gives you a little room and use a regular box wrench. Busted my knuckle pretty ******* one of the pulls.

Nice work! Bummer about the trim but I'll bet it feels good to get it out. Should be say to do the motor mounts and roller lines now :)

Did I mention in your thread that I supported the trans with a piece of 2x4 and a piece of 1x4 stacked on the sway bar? Turned out to be the perfect height for pulling and reinstalling the engine.

I have my motor out now, but I am using the sway bar to keep the trans up.
