Truck is done finally. I spent too much time cleaning and I’m gonna feel it later when I get up in 5-1/2 hrs for work.

Took some effort cleaning out the rear knock sensor hole.

Intake went on but the EGR pipe fought me going back in. Had to tweak it back into shape.

I did end up blasting valve covers and painting them. I looked everywhere for my new coils, plug wires and billet coil brackets. I have no idea what I did with them. I’ll change them at a later date if I ever find them.

Let’s see where I left off. It’s been more headaches and running.

We did go to Lake Geneva on the 18th of September, Jess’ birthday. Called for rain like I said it would so we drove the truck. Got there about noon and checked in for an early check in at The Cove where we were staying but our room wasn’t ready and they said they would text us when it was. Met up with our friends and went and had lunch. Walked around the town to kill time and ended up at a park where they had a live band. Now it’s close to 3pm, regular check in is at 4 so we headed back to hotel and room still wasn’t ready! Their room was so they got in and Jess and I waited in the lobby until 4 before we got our room. So much for early check in! But the room was nice.

We settled in, got changed and went back out on the town and did some shopping with the girls, stopped at a couple bars and went back to the hotel restaurant for dinner. No sooner than we made it to the restaurant and it started pouring outside. Good timing for once.
Had a good meal and hit the pool and hot tub. Had more drinks before calling it a night.
Next morning when I got out of bed I could barely walk. My left foot was hurting so bad like I pulled a tendon or something but I sucked it up and we hit the town again. More shops and had breakfast. After walking a few more miles I couldn’t take it anymore. My foot was killing me so Jess and I checked out and hit the road back home.
I had to work that night so I took it easy and rested my foot. It didn’t get any better. All week I only went to work and by the time I got home I had to get off my feet. The next four days I didn’t get anything done, just work and elevate my foot.

Friday morning came and after I got off at 7am my brother and I headed up north to tackle the garage move.
We stopped on the way up and grabbed some lumber to tie the walls together and brace it up for the move. We got to the house at 2pm, figured out the plan of attack and braced everything and called it a night about 11:30. I was up for 27 hrs so I was beat.

The last picture you can see the rollers we used to move the garage. We put them under the steel channel I brought up. We placed the 2x10’s 8-1/8” off the floor, the steel was 4” tall and the rollers are 4-7/8” so the bottom plate would only be about an inch off the pad but I figured with deflection we would be close to 7/8”.

Got up and started moving at 7:30am. Had to remove all the bolts holding the base plate to the pad and then lift the garage to cut the studs flush to the concrete.
The new pad was poured up to the existing pad and we had an issue with the plywood on outside walls stuck in the new concrete so we had to chisel some of that to get the garage to lift. Minor set back but we got it up and on the rollers.
Earlier in the week I replaced the synthetic rope on my 12k Badlands winch because I frayed a few spots on the other rope pulling bushes and moving branches at the house. I wanted a new rope so we didn’t have any issues.

I used a chain attached to the back wall and pulled off of that.

Coming straight out was easy. Getting the garage to turn was another story. Getting the rollers pointed in the correct orientation to make them work together was a slow process. We were getting to the point where we would pull and the long walls wanted to bow in or out. That’s the reason for the straps holding the walls in. Had to run to town and get more lumber and put kickers from center of ceiling out to center of walls to keep walls straight.

We fought this thing all day long.

One good thing about my bother being an electrician, we never lost lights inside the garage during the move. Lol.
We finally got it into its resting spot around 1am and didn’t go in for the night until 2am.

Them LED lights are pretty bright in that garage. Really put it in perspective with this picture.

Dragged myself out of bed at 7am on Sunday after a few hours of sleep and we had to square it up a little bit, bolt this thing down, clean up, pull the side boards, put garage door rails back on and head home so I could go to work Sunday night.
One issue we had was the new pad was 5/8” higher than the original pad.

When we set the garage down the one side wasn’t touching the ground.

We squared the garage on the pad and I sent my brother to go get some 5/8” treated plywood so we could set the garage down and not rack it when we bolted it down. In above picture I have some 3/4” boards under the far side of the wall temporarily while I was removing the other side boards and bolting it. I got the rails on for garage doors and most of the bracing removed before he got back and then we cut the treated wood to fit, set it in place and finished bolting it down.
We were both tired, sore and my foot was on fire! I could barely walk by the time we were finished.

We caulked the outside and inside so when it rains the water doesn’t seep under the base plate from the exposed concrete. Loaded all our tools, cleaned up, shut down the house and that’s how we left it for now. I still need to get up there with a bobcat and do some grading and put down more gravel for the driveway.

We got home around 7:30pm Sunday night. Unloaded my stuff and had just enough time to eat, shower and get ready to go to work. But when I sat down on the couch, I couldn’t stand back up. Something is definitely wrong with my foot. I mean the only thing that didn’t hurt on my body was my right ear lobe but I couldn’t walk so I ended up calling off work. That is a rare thing for me.
The next morning I wasn’t any better. I tried to walk it off but I couldn’t put any pressure on my left foot at all. I finally swallowed my pride and went to the clinic.
I hobbled in and they took X-rays and I have a stupid calcaneal spur (bone spur) on my heal that’s digging into my tendon. Took Monday night off work and headed to foot doctor on Tuesday. They tell me not only the bone spur but I also have plantar fasciitis and I’m gonna need surgery. Both clinics wanted me to take time off work and give me pain meds which I can’t take because work will not let me come in. I got anti-inflammatory drugs from express clinic and I had foot doctor hit me with 3 shots of cortisone. That was, let’s just say, not fun.
Surgery is gonna have down for 5-7 weeks and I told Dr, that’s not gonna happen until after snowmobile season I guarantee you that. Have a follow up visit 10-19 where I know they are gonna tell me it has to be done but I’m hoping this cortisone kicks in soon, it’s been 2 days and still sucks to walk on but I’ve been coming to work and trying to work on my truck. I’m suppose to stay off of it but I’m leaving Tuesday to go to Tennessee. I sure hope I can prolong this until March. Wish me luck.

Replacing my backing plate and parking shoes with hardware. This is kicking my rear with this foot in tow.

That bracket was rusty as they come and my backing plate was pretty much gone.

Going to the drivers side now. Hope to get this done today so I can do the front end 2mrw.

It was a good thing I decided to dig into the drivers side. That backing plate was solid and I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to fight with the parking brake cable again and have to sandblast and the paint everything, wait for the paint to dry to put it back together. The truck is hanging half way out of the garage door with no way to move it. I had all these things in my favor to just be lazy and replace the brakes. But I didn’t. I pulled it all apart and did it like I should.
Pulled the axle and I see signs of silicone so I knew someone was in there. Right away I noticed, someone greased these bearings!! Who in Sam Hell is dumb enough to think you grease bearings that are bathed in oil? That explains why the gear lube was so dark. Now I have to pull the rear cover and clean out the diff! Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have tools, just like kids, there should be a application and interview process.

But I got it done regardless.

Didn’t get any other pics. Same as other side and Jess was rushing me to go to my buddy’s to sit by camp fire. So that’s what we did. I was outside on my foot all day until 7:30pm, but in order to make the warden happy I went.

Man, foot is still killing me! 3 cortisone shots and I waited for it to kick in and now I’m thinking it was kicked in because I’m almost back to not being able to walk on it.
Leaving in morning to head south. This weekend kicked my rear end. I did everything I could to just get thru changing the rear backing plates and putting the rear back together and get the diff cleaned out. Had the passenger side brake line leak at the caliper. Had to find smaller copper washers to get it to seal up. Having a hard time getting back out there today to do anything. But I need to put my new shocks on the front and at least check everything over real good.
Here’s a few pics of what I finished yesterday.

It’s back together and fluid topped off.

Thanks brother. I really appreciate that. I always try and work thru aches and pains thinking it’ll only get worse if I sit around and do nothing. Some of the time it puts me down and out longer than if I would have rested like my body was telling me to. This week is gonna be good for me. The 9 hr trip is gonna suck but once I’m there 2mrw afternoon, I’m going to kick back and enjoy some R&R.

Today I looked over the front suspension and if I wasn’t hurting I would have torn it apart and replaced everything but I only found very little play in passenger side outer tie rod and upper ball joint. Nothing that concerns me and I feel confident that I’ll have a trouble free road trip. I did replace the front shocks though.
