Timing gear ???unless that thing is idling at 2500 rpm that ain't no lifter or rod knock.
I don't really know what it is thou. but it's way to fast to be valve train, it runs at half crack rpm.

I honestly have no idea.. it's hitting something solid forsure.. but if it was a rod bearing spun, they usually get worse really quickly, have bad oil pressure and start squeaking before they lock up.Timing gear ???
first thing I would do is take both belts off and see if the noise goes away, doesn't sound internal to me but hard to say from a videoHere is some open hood video for those wanting up close sound.
Thanks I’ll do that tomorrowfirst thing I would do is take both belts off and see if the noise goes away, doesn't sound internal to me but hard to say from a video
Idling just fine…oil pressure, rpm’s. No changes in anything. What is it idling at? Warmed up it should be idling around 550 rpm.
That noise it to fast for a crank or rod knock if it is idling properly.
Hmm I’m bringing it to a second opinion this week. We drove it twice to a mechanic and back and no changes so far. Oil pressure, rpm’s, etc have been the same.I honestly have no idea.. it's hitting something solid forsure.. but if it was a rod bearing spun, they usually get worse really quickly, have bad oil pressure and start squeaking before they lock up.
someone said torque converter bolts or flywheel. that might be a good guess. I don't think the starter driving hitting would sounds like that. Hopefully someone has a better idea than me.
Haha I wish that was all. That’s what I keep hearingPlaying card stuck in the wheel spokes with a clothespin.
Sorry, couldn't help myself. #compulsive
Funny you ask. Sometimes. White smoke.Does it smoke??
You could be burning white smoke….. sometimes, but not enough to notice, as you drive easily ?Funny you ask. Sometimes. White smoke.
I had two mechanics check for coolant leaks twice on it because I get low on coolant on occasion. Apparently they couldn’t find anything so I gave up. When I delete AFM, it happened less frequently but still happened a couple times a year.
Maybe……

I only ran it like that to get it to the mechanicLonger u run it like that , the worst it'll get
Interesting thought….. I wonder how it runs, with that knock…..Could it be something rubbing on the timing chain? Like a piece of the tensioner or a piece of the cam position sensor? I mangled two Cam sensors trying to pull them out after 250k on one and only 115k on another, both 2007 L92...
