How long do these transmissions average in miles before rebuild or replacement?
per the local shop they start seeing them come in around 120-140k I guess it really depends on how hard you beat on it, and I am referring to the 6l80's the TC is weak and takes out the pump, wears out the bell housing, stator.

Depends on how they’re driven and maintained. I have 215K on the original 6L80E in my ‘07 Yukon XL Denali. AFM will also affect the life of them because as the system engages and disengages it puts extra strain on the lock-up clutch in the torque converter. When that goes, it will take the transmission with it.

I have just over 200K on mine I am thinking of rebuilding it as preventative maint. Looking at doing a rebuild with updated parts and replace bell housing, torque converter and rear main seal too.

Personally I haven’t seen much over 200-250k before they need a rebuild or full replacement. It could be part in due to the previous owners.

While you’re at it, put a new pan on the trans. One with a drain plug. B&M makes a nice one that’s deeper and has cooling fins to help with the fluid temps.

Did you do the AFM/DoD delete on both of your trucks?

ARH longtubes and mine are naked. They don't come close to anything that can burn up, I love the fitment. I don't even need protection for the spark plugs wires.
Seriously? I figured at the minimum the plug wires would need to be protected. Usually it’s plug shields and wrapping the headers.
Is yours a 5.3l and is it 2WD/AWD or 4WD? There’s quite a difference in fitment and choice selection between the 5.3l and the 6.2l?

Is there a TC that’s recommended for replacement, or is better off sticking with another OEM since 100-200k is still a good number (unless you’re behind the wheel, in which case that “actual” mileage number is doubled to then reflect the “abused” mileage)?

a billet torque converter, mine was done with one from a local manufacture from the san jose, ca area, "saxco", there not a "brand name" company but are popular with the locals

Same. Mine was from a national overhauler that my transmission shop works with, called CVC. It's an upgraded OEM unit with a billet cover (stronger, less flex and ballooning), and a stronger lock-up clutch mechanism. The model is BU60FHD.

The plug wire and the way the header tubes are positioned, it's like factory. Mine is a 6.2l and 4WD. Once I get it back from getting the exhaust done, I'll snap pics of the plug wires

Good to know. When I was first looking at them Doug Thorley shorties were the only ones that I found that would work with our setup without then being more or less custom built.
Noted…
The model is BU60FHD.

…billet is the way to go.

Did you guys ever get a chance to check the current draw on the 500w vs 700w fans? I’m still curious if the 700w is going to need the larger amp alternator and if so what size?

So I am just guessing here, but I would say the 700W fans draw about 40% more current than the 500W...

There's always one in every crowd. :) For context, some of us aren't sure if we actually already have the 700W fans as part of the max towing package our rigs came with - even if they don't have the K5L code. And, alpha is looking for info on how much they actually draw in the real world to see if a larger alternator is needed. But your point is valid - it should only be another 16 amps or so.

No harm no foul Steele…I have had plenty of practice dealing with clowns. Usually around about the end of week one it looks like someone slapped their jester smile sideways when they ask:
“professor will this stuff be on the final exam?”

To which I happily respond: “No, but it will be on the quiz you all are taking in about….seven minutes.”
