No. The job is incomplete and this is now a game.

It looks black on my screen- is it?

Could it be one of the three that hold the engine cover mount to the intake manifold?
Its black and no. I didn’t take any bolts out of the intake manifold.

EDIT: it’s NOT black! Sorry for any confusion...:insane:

It s solid now, not so much before. The OEM part number for the filler tube is 12574386. It has to rotate a full 180* to be removed or installed and I think since my overflow tank is relocated and is in the way of doing that, it never got installed right. IMO it’s easier to install it with the cover installed so you can twist it good and seat the big o-ring without the valve cover moving. I grab it with both hands, turn and push, then pull to remove, or push slightly when installing so the tabs engage.

What about removing it with the cover installed? Have you ever done that? Is that the part number you ordered? I'm looking at it on Amazon and there is no O-ring and doesn't look right to me. What about the filler cap?

There’s always that one damn bolt left over when you complete a project like this. :sad72:

There are a couple of unused threaded holes in the top of the radiator support. Whenever that happens to me I stick them in one of the holes so it's there if I need it. ;)

The picture on Amazon just has it at a weird angle so it looks funny. It’s the right part number. The o-ring and cover are separate parts. Here’s a link to the exploded parts drawing for your 07 5.3 Tahoe.

Oh, and yes it’s easier to remove/ install it with the valve cover installed, I thought I mentioned that earlier.

How do you remove it without breaking the locking tab?

There’s no locking tab on any that I’ve noticed. On both my trucks I just turn and remove them. You might have to push down to compress the o-ring but I haven’t had to do that at least that I remember.

I was talking to my bud Roger Vinci @Vinci High Performance ;) and it turns out he knows Justin @BlackBearPerf pretty good. This is what he said about him in his last email to me. Oh, and I heard from Shannon that the tune should be done early this week.

“I didn’t remember you indicting Justin was doing the tuning. He’s as good as there is. No one else I would ever recommend. I’m sure he’s super busy, as we are as well with the COVID thing going on. We are now two to three weeks behind on cam builds.”

I guess I don’t need to worry that Justin will get the most out of this cam.

Ok I kinda want to scream. I got the tune today and installed both the ECM and TCM tunes, figuring maybe he changed something with the transmission tune as well. Immediately the Traction Control and Stabilitrak warnings popped up in the DIC. I plugged the Tech2 in and there’s no communication with the TCM, and I notice the PRNDL display is blank. I know what this means, been there before- the trans is in limp mode. I reprogrammed the TCM with the stock tune and same thing. I sent Justin an Email.
Edit: also ordered a used TCM off EBay for $27, it will be here in 3-4 days. Worst case is I’ll program it to my VIN with the Tech2 and load the original modified file since I know that one is ok.
