Don’t tell the tow drivers the truth if that’s what it takes to get them to do it. Tell them it won’t start, and be there when they pick it up. It’s her that would be breaching the peace, not you. She probably won’t even know it’s being towed.

If that can be pulled off the issue of whether the key had been re-flashed to the BCM could begin.
Once the vehicle is squared away, the VCIM could be replaced w/ a >2011 unit, activated to employ all the cell phone location, unlock & remote start features.

Jim, roughly where in Florida do you live? Does the driver work? If the battery died, would driver get a ride to work and leave the truck behind? Pull the plates yet?

you can actually tow any car, AAA covers any car you are in, if it's a friends etc.. of course with permission if it's not your's

AAA Membership is the best deal. I have Platinum .. 2/ 400 mile tows, 4/ 200 mile tows & unlimited under that.
@petethepug Onstar needs an active connection to the car before they can talk to it. That's what they told me. There is no active connection. You need to physically hit the blue button to make an outgoing call first.

@Rocket Man I have a tow driver..he's been telling me stories... trying to get it done with him... last thing I want is to not tell them the truth, especially since they are just going to roll up, take their sweet time.. she can then hop in the car with the key and then they can't legally hook up the truck. Now, if it's hooked up before she comes out, then that's a different story, but I don't need the driver to be taking his sweet time and then all hell breaks loose.
For all those thinking it's 100% my property, it is.
For all those thinking I can just roll up in a tow truck and tow it... it's not that simple. If she gets in it before it's hooked up, they have to let it go. If I don't tell the story to them, it will give her plenty of time to come out and sit in it. Then she knows, then she hides the car... all bad for me.
For all those thinking get a tow truck to come and do it... they don't want to get involved, and the only person I've found seems to be messing with me... so it's not looking great. Life lessons 101, woman find ways to fsck you, even after they've gone.

If it's your truck, and you want to retrieve it, and she gets in the way when the tow truck is there, then call the Sheriff. She is not allowed to keep you from getting your possession.
If the truck is on someone else's property ( driveway), then you must contact the property owner to inform them you are taking it. Then she has no rights.

@mountie I've already contacted the local sheriff's office and it's 50/50 chance if they get called out if they will make the tow truck guy leave or if they will let him take it. They are calling this a civil issue and they want you to get a Writ of Replevin to legally get the sheriff's office to take the vehicle back.
I'm telling you, this is a shit show... I don't have a problem doing that, but once that happens...and if they don't let him take the car, then she's hiding the car.
I did call the loan company.. It would be a voluntary repo and go on my record financially... so that's not a good route.
Looks like a Writ of Replevin is my best route at this point.

Do you know if she still drives it? If so it might be easier (less drama) for you to tow it when it’s on a public street. Even if you can’t start it it will go into neutral for winching onto a flatbed or auto transporter. On the key pairing with the vehicle, if you put in an unpaired key into the ignition after you pull a paired key out and turn to the on position and wait for the dash light to go out it should start. I don’t know what the maximum amount of time is between pulling the working key out and then putting in the new key is, can anyone comment. This works for some GM vehicles.
I would try the 50/50 chance first.
Ummm...if he had a working key he could just drive it away. Or do you mean if he could do it right after she drives it? It takes awhile to pair a new key. But he doesn't even need to use a key to tow it, dollies under 2 wheels and lift the other end.

Yeah I meant right after she drives it that way you could pair the new key to the car immediately that’s my understanding. The towing was just doing it personally and not having a tow guy do it, you know like getting a truck and trailer to do it yourself.

A 2012 is probably worth what 15 to 18k? Obviously there is a huge amount of animosity in this relationship but would offering a cash payment for her to let you have the key and take the truck back "undamaged" possibly work?
It is very rare that a totally broken relationship is completely one sided (just sayin) perhaps a different approach might work if you have some funds. (you are talking about hiring a tow truck getting keys made etc which cost dollars!)

I can tell you, she will do everything to keep me from getting the truck back. She's kept my daughter from me for well over a month.
There are two sides to every story, but all the liability is on me and I'm the only person both legally and financially responsible. Had things been better and she has credit, then she'd put it in her name and move forward, but that's not happening sad to say.

it's either 5 seconds or 10 seconds I think it's the 5, not long enough for his purposes.
he could however though use his key to access the vehicle, lock himself in and keep the doors locked while the tow truck driver does there thing that way she can't get in.
The tow truck driver is about to get the boot. He has more excuses than a ********** on the corner looking for a score.

Maybe she will get pulled over for driving a car without a license plate, not registered to her, no insurance that she's aware of (I just had to buy some, so my DL wouldn't be suspended, but it's through me only), and her DL has been expired since middle of last yr (just found out)... At this point in time, I'm running out of time.

is the vehicle at a residence or is it a apt complex or something of that nature?

Jim, you need a ruse to get her away from the truck so you can retrieve it. Does she like movies? Get her into a theater for 2 hours and you'll have plenty of time to get that key learned or just hooked up and towed out of there, even to the other side of the mall parking lot. I'm too far away to help man.
