Here in Eugene, Oregon there are no high school vo-techs in the area and the one local community college, that has an automotive course, has an instructor that I have left messages for 2 times and get no calls back. I am not willing to give the tools away. Especially when me and Linda want to travel for a bit. I will sell them, either all at once or piece by piece or set by set. Until then, I will use them for whatever work I can still do. Thanks for the input.

No insult was intended.

I agree with Joe. I am in the same situation. My tools were from my Dad and are over 60 years old. My daughters do not want them. I plan to donate them to my local high school vocational center or one of my nephews.

I still have to decide what to do with my 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that I have owned for 52 years as well as my my 30 year old Jeep Cherokee. I hope one of my nephews wants the Monte Carlo. The Jeep I can sell.
My dad had EVERY Craftsman tool they made and built a set in the late 60's. I still have them all. Potentially a thousand pieces. 1/4 to 3/4 sockets Every metric and English, deep and shallow, 6 and 12 point... just for starters.... Roller and top box. Gave them to me appx 2005, passed in 2013. I have gotten great use and memories out of them as I was taught how to use them as a young man when you needed tools not computers to work on a vehicle.... I'll keep and use them till I can't and then they will go to my Son-In-Laws, one of which is a farmer who farms 4K acres. They need to live on and help another generation like they have helped me....

The Monte Carlo is in very good shape. The engine and engine compartment were restored last year and the body and interior were done 20 years ago and could use a couple touch ups. I really want to keep the MC in the family so I am not interested in selling yet. The Jeep is my daily driver with over 230000 miles but has the straight 6 and looks and runs great. I did have it repainted 3 years ago because of the sun fading the roof and the hood. I am sure it will sell with no problem when the time comes.

In case I did not say it already, there is way more pics that could be posted..

You can't see it but the 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive sockets are short, medium and deep and all Snap On and that is the metric. The ratchets are all Snap On and Mac Tool.

I use your rockauto discount codes every time I buy parts, VietVet.

Im 42 and just started turning wrenches on my vehicles out of necessity - shops are expensive.

For what it’s worth, do you. Do what is gonna put you and your gal in the traveling mode.

I’d love to have a fraction of the useful tools you possess. I have no $$ to even think about asking for you to piece it out. I have built my little tool chest with asking for tools from my family for holidays and gift giving.

I’m still learning the tough stuff, but I’ve helped family and close friends save major $$ by doing the work with parts they buy for the basic stuff. I don’t charge, they ask to pay and accept what they decide on.

People like you who help people like me are invaluable. Those tools will go and hopefully they will be used to help others the way you did.

I don’t know you from Adam - but I feel the emotion and challenging decision you’re making in this post.

Best of luck and I wish you safe travels with your lady.

PS - stand firm on the no breaks for the leaching family - just because there is blood relation doesn’t equate to obligation.

Happy trails.

@FAUST, at 73, I have one living brother and he is retired. No family involved in this, other than I want to sell all this before, if I go first, my girl does not have to deal with it.

I am physically not able to do some of the work that I was able to do 4 years ago. It pisses me off. But the writing is on the wall. The 40 pics count, in my posts, could easily double. Hell I got 5 scanners/code readers.
Just my Mac Tool metric long reach combination wrench set is 6mm thru 32mm.
I have spent more on metric than SAE.

I promise anyone that reads this, the Or Best Offer will be just shy of the $35K. So many times someone sees $35k Or Best Offer and
think that means $30k. That's a big no.

Tim the Tool Man's got NOTHING on you. Might I say that you are truly a tool junkie? But, not a Tool.

Outstanding tool collection, and you should be damn proud of it, and I'm sure that you are.

When I was in the shops, even as a service writer/advisor/manager, I kept my boxes in the shops. Different than the set of boxes you see here. Since I was on the S/O and Mac Tool trucks all the time, I had quite a bit more and when I sold all of them, I sold for more than what I list here.

The boxes and 75% of these tools were bought after retirement in 2022. The asking price of $35K Or Best Offer, is about 1/2 of what I sold my WORK set for.

When I sell these, I will get a small Husky roll around and some basic tools for doing fluid changes for my customers.

I am close to scheduling with a neurosurgeon for my spine and disc problems and just had my Echocardiogram on Monday. The results of that test and what the neurosurgeon says will dictate how much further I go, for turning wrenches.

I am doing an oil change on my landlord's wife's 2022 Highlander Hybrid this morning.
