I don’t understand why they didn’t just make the nipples longer in order to accommodate better clamps. One is long enough, why not the other 2?

This was discussed and Paul asked me if there was room... I told him that the two larger ones could probably be extended but the smaller one that feeds the rear heater core might pose a problem.

As it is right now, it already pushes the rear metal lines back toward the A/C accumulator so not a ton of room without possibly bending/massaging the lines.

All of this talk about clamps and what not.... in all truth the coolant system runs less than 20psi, more like 15psi, so it's not like you have to over tighten the clamps for fear of it blowing a line off.

Worm clamps are not my favorite but I will take them all day long in this application VS the plastic T-connectors. My 2 bits.

Way off topic, but I’m not talking about clamps.. so.. do the Gruven mirror gears work on the gmt800 or only the gmt900? Looks from their site, like they’re specific to the gmt900 platform.

My guess is they are GMT900 specific or else Gruven would market them for both. Give Paul at Gruven a call or send him an email and I'm sure he can give an answer with certainty.

I think they work on the gmt800, @Rocketman did you install the Gruven heater core T-connectors on your SUV?

Question for those who have used these Gruven tees. I see that they also now sell billet heater core couplers for these trucks. Should I buy them in addition to the tees? And what about the tee down near the water pump? Can the Gruven tee be used to replace that one too? 2012 Denali with rear aux heat.

The straight connector is not needed for trucks with rear heat.

You CANNOT use a Gruven T-connector to replace the Y-connector down by the water pump BUT you can buy the Dorman 626-553 which is a direct replacement made from aluminum. That is what I used.

The only way you can buy it is with hoses. They don't sell it separately, I called Dorman and asked.

Thank you, Ken! VERY helpful. I'll order the Dorman aluminum part with hoses as well.

Cheers,
Dave

DARN,:( I wish I would have know about that Dorman hose Dec.24th when one of my plastic t-fittings broke. I had the GruvenParts.com aluminum t-fittings in hand, but I changed that heater hose with one from NAPA, and that Y fitting is plastic.:badidea: I'll buy the Dorman and install that aluminum y as soon as possible

Ok,, so I think i'm going to do the dorman part mentioned earlier for the
single Tee with heater hose assembly.
But, when I look up the heater hose Tee , they list one that's 111 MM and one that's 113 MM... How do I know which I have (without disassembly first). I have 2014 Yukon XL Denali
Thanks for the help!!

How was the quality of everything else else like the hoses, clamps, plastic connection?

I assume you are asking about the Dorman part... everything seemed to be of good quality. I used the entire Dorman assembly... aluminum Y-connector, hoses, clamps... except for the plastic quick connect fitting that goes to the factory plastic T-connectors obviously .

Got my gruven T's installed today, had to trim the hoses up about an inch going to the heater core and actually had to trim back the hard lines going to the rear of the vehicle about 3/4". Other than that, it's a great product that's going to hold up well

I tried uploading photos, but they're too big and the site won't accept them
