I have a few things coming- console which will be a couple weeks it looks like, the air bag switch control, center bezel and main ac vent bezel in brushed metal, rocker switch for demon eyes, and a Panavise phone mount. It installs with hidden screws in the center area and I might cut some of the exposed part off. I’ll be using a magnetic mount with it.

The long brushed piece came in and it’s not perfect. There’s a couple scratches and they are not in the spot where I installed the air gauge and it can’t be moved to where the scratches are. I think I’ll install it temporarily to see how noticeable it is. You need to get the angle right to see it. I paid $60 shipped and have asked for a partial refund or possible return. It’s pretty minor but still...

Possible to fix, or mask with very fine steel wool? With very light pressure possibly?

Probably make it more noticeable imo. I’m afraid of messing with it, I’m gonna see what it looks like installed. They offered me $15 off and it was only $40 plus shipping so that would be $25. The things are hard to find used and $160-180 new. I have seen a couple other used ones in bad shape. I’m undecided.

I definitely get this. Good plan to install it and see what you think. Though, I have a suspicion you won’t be able to know it’s damaged and allow it to remain in your truck.

panavise 751101707. I got mine on EBay, open box.

Info at Panavise: https://www.panavise.com/index.html

Go to indash custom dash mounts.

Just found one at Best Buy for $20... gonna pick it up tonight. I have a proclip mount but it doesn't like being pushed on and falls off easy. Maybe this will for better

I'd think that sweet ass Escalade cluster would be enough of a distraction to keep you from looking that direction. Well, that and having to watch for people pulling a cut-and-putt.

What if you got a custom appliqué or decal made for that area that said something like “The Machine” or “Welcome to The Machine” in red letters?

"Welcome to the Machine" should be programmed to flash across the IP display at startup.

That would be badass. Is that even possible?
Maybe I can do that with the splash screen on the Pioneer. I’ll have to look into it. I have a favorite pic come up on The Beast when it starts up, I don’t see why I can’t make my own graphic. As for the dash piece, I drilled the big ass hole and mounted the air gauge so it is in for now. It was dark so I didn’t get pics but it looks ok I think. I’ll deal with it later, I want to get everything else done and then I’ll come back to it if it’s bothering me.

I swear I saw someone had a custom message flash across the DIC screen at startup. May have been a C5 or C6 Corvette or something. The image in my head is foggy, but the teal green text and gauge layout was definitely GM.

Having a custom splash screen on the HU would suffice nicely! I remember back in '02-ish, I bought a then top-of-the-line single DIN Pioneer Premier that could do custom screens. You had to download a program to your computer from Pioneer's site, open and edit the pics including setting the scrolling style, burn the images to a CD, put the CD in the HU and go into a special menu to copy them from the CD to the HU's memory. It was a background feature with half-decent color scale that would scroll through the images like a sideshow, similar to "the dolphin" HUs that came out later
