Can confirm. Yeti used to sell rims on this wonderful forum and was commonly seen wearing gloves to protect his delicate hands. With that said, it was much more pleasant than seeing the eagle talons that @jdpber would flash us

Just figured I'd bump this up with the latest rant.
My son and I went up there last week for a quick 2-day trip.
The Good: No more vultures/buzzards. Haven't seen them on the property since we left. I assume the laser pointer for a week straight pissed them off, and the effigy we hung might be doing something as well. Hardly any bird crap on the dock aside from a few pterodactyl sized loads on the upper deck. Everything was perfect. No issues at the house at all. No signs of the mice we encountered last trip, so I think we did the right things to make them not want to be around as well. Water pressure was good, water was hot, AC was cold.
The Meh: Dock builder did not have our pilings set for our wave runner lift, therefore we weren't able to get the wave runners off the trailer and into the water. He texted me over the weekend and said the lift should be delivered this week. He is scheduling it for install the following week but will know more Tuesday with a concrete plan.
The bad: Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the last punch list of issues with the dock have yet to be resolved. I kinda said my peace to the dock builder because I have been pretty nice and nonchalant as of late. But they did a crap job on installing the swinging gate on the upper deck. Like didn't even line it up with the rest of the railings. Just looked piss poor. No attention to detail at all. The bunks that hold our pontoon up are still off. They need to be adjusted. At this point I will probably just do it myself next time I am up there for a prolonged period of time. There were a few things on that list that had not been done yet, so I told him I expected this to have been resolved already, I got a thumbs up. I'll wait until the wave runner lift is done, and final inspection is scheduled.
Anywho, here's a pic of the gate on the upstairs. Dont mind the screws on top of the pilings. Wifey and I strung up 80lb mono to keep the birds from perching on the railings. So far it worked. I'll figure out a more permanent solution in the future.
But it sure looks pretty at night... I never really noticed all the starts until I took this pic. So peaceful at night.

Keeping birds off the pilings..... A single VERY - VERY THIN wire, ( safety wire? ) arched over the top. about 5 "... It isn't really noticeable ( sort of ).....
But the birds don't know what to do, trying to land... their wings touch it.... they can't see it .... They fly away.
At least it isn't sharp pointed ' anti- bird' spikes'...... They hurt people when touched.

lol. Indeed. But it was a trial to see if it would work. I am thinking of having my buddy make me some billet plugs that i can paint black and run the lines thru them. Unless i can find something similar already made and ready t go. Haven’t really researched my options just yet.

that gate placement is definitely questionable at best.
What did you do for mice? I used to get them every winter at the old house, but I was on top of it with traps and bait/poison. It would only be for like a week or two then it would stop until next season. I’d like to get ahead of it this year at the new place.

Bait stations to start. We noticed dropping go down a little, but still got them. So my son heard one running under the bed one night and we did those glue traps. Caught 4 of them in a week. Then they went away.
But when we left the house empty for the last 5 weeks, i put these sonic plugs all over the place inside. It emits a high pitch noise that isn’t really pleasant but not to the point where you can’t walk thru. So we turned those on and left. Not a single dang dropping or sighting. So i think we can relax a bit. I turned them on when we left again last week.

Yeah not very dog friendly. I wouldn’t keep them on when you’re there.
