Located in Brighton, CO. Just outside Denver. Fly in, drive home. Clean and clear title in my name.
This is my for sale post for Shrek (that's her name), my 2001 Pontiac Aztek GT AWD 2+2 (rear Captains Chairs) in Citrus Green. A rare option pack, if not the rarest ever made. This is a 2 of 2 build, and I know the other 1 was totaled in Connecticut some years ago. It has HUD, heated front Captains Chairs, dual climate zones, Pioneer sound with 6 cd changer that works, rear subs with rear audio controls, air suspension with rear air inflator kit, rear cargo tray, cooler with tray, rear cargo cover, cargo nets
It will be cash sale only. No Venmo, no Zelle, no cashiers checks, no money orders. Sorry for the restrictions, way to many scammers out there. I'm not sure how to handle deposits for the same reason. You don't know me. I feel handling this as a cash transaction should solve those problems. This does also mean that if you show up with less than the agreed on price, you will be going home empty handed. I got burned by a Cashiers Check car sale a few years ago, and wont go down that road again. If you are uncomfortable with this, we can arrange to do the deal at a local police station, the airport, or what have you. I understand not wanting to carry that amount of cash around.
I am in no way stating this truck is perfect. It's 23 years old. It is going to need a few things.
My wife has loved this truck since the day I got it for her. She still doesn't want me to sell it, but it no longer makes sense for our family.
I am going to start off with the BAD. I want no surprises, if anything I list is going to push you away from my asking price, or the vehicle, you know it up front.
Nearly 6 years ago, my wife had a minor accident. She T-B0ned a Ford Focus at low speed, in a Walmart parking lot (less than 10mph). No Air-Bag deployment (thankfully, she was pregnant at the time). I was able to drive the Aztek home from the accident scene. Totaled the Focus, and insurance totaled the Aztek too. I had a local body shop look at it, and try to explain to me why it was totaled. It was totaled because lack of NEW parts availability. It needed a bumper cover, the bumper reinforcements, a headlight, headlight header panel, and a corner light. I sourced the parts myself, and had the body shop install them. No paint work was done. The 2001 GT Specific bumper is no longer on the truck. It has a Silver bumper from a 2005 Aztek. I personally think it looks better. Everything still functions like it should. I saved the upper bumper cover (its green), and had the shop attach it to the lower section of the 2005 bumper during reassembly. It was state inspected for defects, and none were found.
3 years ago Shrek was hit by a hail storm while my wife was on her way home from the grocery store. She had the kids in the truck, and thought it was safer to drive home, vs finding a tree to hide under until it cleared. All top panels have hail dents in them, mainly the hood (which I tried to picture the best I could). I had the windshield replaced with a NON-HUD windshield, and had the glass shop modify it to add near HUD standard as possible. The HUD windshield was not available (COVID), and had to work with what was available. I had a PDR guy look at it, and he could get most of the dents out. At the time my wife was pregnant again, and we decided against that.
The interior headliner, and sunroof headliner needs replacement (pictured). I think the foam for the drivers seat bottom needs replacement (my wife disagrees with me). The leather itself is in good shape. To me, the foam has just lost its shape. The door sill plate at the drivers door is cracked/broken (pictured). The steering wheel buttons do have some fade to them.
There is one small patch of rust in the drivers rear wheel well. It is pictured.
It has a extremely minor leak, it leaves a mark on the driveway, but we are not sure if its oil, tranny, coolant, or power steering. Nothing ever goes low on fluid levels.
Now to the good.
After the accident damage was fixed above, I had the gas tank and fuel pump replaced by the dealer under recall/warranty 6 years ago. While it was at the dealer, we had them replace the rack and pinion, front tie rods, the rear tie rods, front passenger side control arm, front struts, Main lower engine mount, and install a low mileage (used) rear diff. They also did an alignment
2 years ago, at 129k miles, the transmission was rebuilt, and the steering intermediate shaft was replaced. I also had the rear brake pads, rotors, and parking brake shoes, replaced.
Last year, the spark plugs, wires, O2 sensors, and the tires were replaced. 3 of the tires have less than 3000 miles on them, the other, I had a flat 2 weeks ago, and was replaced under warranty with Discount tire. It has about 200 miles on it. The tread depth is within 1/32 of each other, and will not affect the AWD system. They are Corsa Highway Terrain Tires with a 40k warranty. With the mileage my wife drives, getting a higher mileage tread warranty did not seem logical. There are a few missing lug nut caps, and a few that are mismatched, thanks again to Discount Tire.
This year I have had to replace the fuel filter, and 3 of the 4 wheel bearings. The picture of the odometer taken today is while the engine is running, and as you can see, no lights are on. It had a check engine light on 2 weeks ago, and I replaced the coil that was bad. During my test drive to verify the repair is when the tire went flat mentioned above.
I bought the car from its original owner in 2007 with 55k miles. She lived in Alpharetta, GA, and was moving to New York, and no longer needed a car. The original owner indicated to me that the motor was replaced under warranty when it had 30k miles on it at the dealer, from a blown head gasket. I have no proof of this. She also had a ASC (American Sunroof Corp) sunroof installed at the dealer when she bought it new. She wanted OnStar and a sunroof, and this is the only way it could be done.
My wife has used this car as her daily driver since we have owned it. She does not drive much, as the mileage indicates. She also used it to transport our kids around for the past 6 years. The kids or she was not kind to the rear passenger door, and the paint is chipped on the high ridges (pictured). My wife has put on 78k miles in the time we have owned it, 16 years. It now has 134k miles (pictured). Mileage may go up, but as its our spare car, not by much.
My wife needed a mini van, so I bought her one back in June, and at that time it became a back up vehicle for us. Now that my new Rivian is finally coming in, my Envoy is becoming a backup and the Aztek needs to go.
I am asking $2500 on the truck. I already have an offer from the Rivian dealer for 2459 (2300 on trade, and 159 tax savings), so an offer below this will likely NOT be entertained. I will also be including the 1 hikers pouch, tent kit (unused) assuming I can find it in my garage. Also will include any other spare parts I have (tail lights, coil pack, etc). It also has the uber rare Rendezvous rear foot rests installed. It also has Rendezvous door mirrors installed. 2 keys and 2 key FOB's. The original owners manual, and it's related paperwork is in the glove box. I think I may even have the original window sticker, but am not sure. A/C and heat work wonderfully!
