Agree. I use Amsoil signature and matching filter.Fram XG3675 or Amsoil EAO64
Both *very* high quality synthetic filters w/ the long can. Wouldn't touch the rest of Fram's lineup with a 10ft pole, but their ultra synthetics are on point. And well.. Amsoil is Amsoil.
IMO, better filter > better oil. Even the best oil will do you no good if it has floating particulates and contaminants in it
I think you meant 51042xp, correct? No such number as 52042xp at the Wix site.I use WIX as well. Either the 51042 or 52042XP, whichever is in stock. I talked with a guy at O'Reilly about a year ago about them not having the regular 51042 and he said it was a nationwide issue, so I shelled out the extra couple of bucks for the XP.
I used to use the AC Delco PF46 filters when I had oil changes done at the dealership and through my first couple of oil changes because I got them for next to nothing. Once they switched to the E cores, I went back to WIX.
That filter is not avail in the usa either very strange they dont have any oil filters in stock for a 5.3.I know wix was bought out by another company awhile back. With all my years in shops and all my own vehicles, including Harley's, I have used WIX quality with never a problem and will continue to do so. The application of your filter is the same as mine and I still use them but I like a little more oil capacity and use the WIX 51522XP that is slightly over 1" longer than the 51042XP. The other dimensions and specs are the exact same. Yes, they are hard to get though.
That’s correct. I got to typing too quicklyI think you meant 51042xp, correct? No such number as 52042xp at the Wix site.
Used NAPA Gold on my 4.0L Jeep for several years. Seemed to do pretty well. I was satisfied. Some other brands of filters had flimsy back-flow valve "flappers", which can make a ticky sound almost like valve lifter tick. NAPA Golds filtered good and did not have any noise from the back-flow valves. If all else fails, you can use the NAPA Gold oil filter for a good quality WIX made filter.

Well, the fellas here like Wix, a fine filter, but it is not the top dog.I'm surprised @swathdiver hasn't chimed in here yet. I believe he's done some "oil filter effects on oil pressure" tests a couple years back.
Don’t leave us hanging!Well, the fellas here like Wix, a fine filter, but it is not the top dog.
Alright, this was done about 2018 or 2019:Don’t leave us hanging!

I have personally used the PF63E, the M1-212A and the HP2011 on my truck. The Mobil One filter dropped my oil pressure about 2-3 psi compared with the other two. From the 1980s through the 2000s our family used FRAM filters without issue, even when we were broke and had to reset the OLM a few times. I used ACDelco filters in my muscle cars back in the day. Probably going to buy a case of PF63s for the Sierra since it goes through oil changes every two months. The K&Ns are probably the most expensive, they are about $15 each right now. The PF63s are $8-9 each.
