I guess I am wrong then I don't recall mine getting that high but maybe they did get a lot higher and then cooled down to 800 at idle, I know it is posted on here somewhere but the search function is not exactly spectacular
So my converters are running 300°F when I used a IR laser temp gun. And then my OBD PID Bank for it says 1200°F and doesn’t really change. (I’ve only gotten up to 25mph looking at the temp tho) my buddy says 1200 is normal? Need @swathdiver to verify.

when I looked back my post's in 2019 I was getting over 1200deg, and getting poor mpg and one failed shortly after trying to figure out why i was getting significantly less gas mileage for no apparent reason

I don’t think I’m getting bad gas mpg. I get like 10-11

Idling they can get up to or cool down to 700-800 degrees. I've hit near 1600 accelerating onto the highway. Then they cool down again. Don't remember the specific numbers but it's on here somewhere as we've talked about this a few times over the years. These are virtual numbers calculated by the computer.

Is there easy ways to check for clogged cat?
