Well, finally got around to tearing the motor down. Let's just say things do not look good. Both valve covers are coated in milkshake (Coolant mixed in oil) and noted that the #2 Cylinder has coolant on top intake valve. Unsure at this point if it is just a blown head gasket or if I cracked a head/block somehow. Truck never overheated, just started to run rough and blow white smoke on the way home from work. Luckily only drove it about a 1/4 of a mile to get home and shut it down in my driveway, hasn't been fired up since.

The valley also had coolant pooled towards the rear of the block and on top of the passenger cylinder (pooled on top of the head bolts).

Now the frustration begins in looking for the cause and determining if I have to replace the whole damn engine at only 114K miles

How would he know if it’s a cracked block? Replace the heads with new gaskets and roll the dice? Since he’s torn down, is there any way to see?

Definitely not something to "roll the dice" on! I doubt it's a cracked block being where he's finding coolant. But it's not impossible if it's cracked badly enough that the head gasket leaks coolant everywhere. That would easily be visible once the heads are off. He's right on the verge of finding out. Just gotta zip out them 15 or 30 bolts. I'm leaning more towards a blown head gasket. I'd still have the heads checked and maybe have a cleaning pass done on the surface to ensure flatness. It'd be ideal to at least check the decks for flatness as well.

Pep Boys $135(On sale at 25% off normally $174.99)
Autozone $217.99 HOLY FAK
have you checked Rock Auto?

I am kind of shocked at the price difference. Like half the cost and no core charge?? What am I missing here?
That's a good question. I'm not privy to what parts either Pep Boys or AutoZone uses. We don't have Pep Boys near me and the AutoZone in my area is worthless so I'm not all the familiar with either spot and the parts available at each spot. I usually shop at either O'Reilly or Rock Auto. If I have an issue that I can wait on a part to arrive for I use Rock Auto about 98% of the time because the price is usually quite a bit cheaper and I can get OEM parts for cheaper than the aftermarket parts they sell at the parts store.

I like that 5 year warranty. does AZ have their warranty where it's a full replacement for that entire 5 years or do they do that Prorated warranty bs?

It's 3 years full replacement and additional 2 years after that pro rated. The one I have going bad is a $100 special from Pep Boys that only had a 36 month warranty so I guess I shouldn't complain about that.

Autozone has a two phase warranty. They give you a period where they will replace for free then they go into a period where it is prorated.

On the way to work today my windshield wipers quit. Doesnt matter what I do, the wipers don’t move. I turned key off, opened door, turned key on, nothing. Also unplugged the rain sensor, didn’t help. Manually activating them doesn’t change anything. I still have turn signals, washer fluid spray, high beams, just no wiper activity. Had to drive the rest of the way to work without wipers. Glad I took back roads and not the interstate this morning. Any ideas of what I could check before I leave tonight?
