Finished up today. The LubeLocker gasket is holding up. That was much better than the regular gasket I used last time that I had to add RTV to. Actually I had my neighbor do it because that was right after my motorcycle accident and I attempted installing the girdle but got into a bad spot under the truck and since my left shoulder socket was fractured I dislocated it, so I asked him to step in, after I got back from the hospital. What a memory lol. I foamed everything up and pressure washed it so the red parts are red again.

Here’s some pics of the rear wheel bearings that I popped out of the housing. At 170,000 miles I think they could go another 200,000. They look new. I was able to pop them back in the housing. Anybody want to do a trial? :)

Shit, I was driving in a detour zone and there I guess the people who live on that street are angry because some dude came out in the street and started throwing shit at my truck when I was only doing 5 over so I got pissed, threw it in reverse and pinched it from a dead stop. I got some tire squeal and then a noise. I have some oil dripping and a clanging sound if I drive it. I’m hopping it’s just the u-joint straps and the driveline put a hole in the pan. Been here before.

Got it towed home; the LF axle is broken. Gear oil leaking so I’m not sure if the front diff can be saved until closer inspection. Oh well, could have been worse.

Anybody know the go-to for front diffs? I see RA has A1 Cardone remans for $815 plus $130 core. Not sure if there are better places to go or if I should get this one rebuilt locally if possible.

I am looking at the Zumbrota reman diffs on RA. I see they are actually owned by Randy’s Worldwide formerly Randy’s ring and pinion. I have worked with randy’s before.

That one is $120 more and the warranty is 2 years; the A1 Cardone is 3 years. I looked online and most places are around $1000 shipped from various vendors. The A1 is $792 shipped from RA and they’re in stock with a 7 day delivery time which is good. The Zumbrota one says there’s a 7 day DELAY.

I see now you have more options for a NBS. I can only get ATP or Zumbrota for my NNBS.

Seems like that would be the way to go
