Blackbear got back to me and guaranteed the line pressure is 100% stock and adaptive learning is disabled so the PCM can’t alter it. Also talked to FTI and they’re trying to push the cut, clean and reweld through on Monday or Tuesday and they assured the height will be set at the exact same so when I reinstall it the flexplate to converter clearace will be the same as before. This is important to me since some of you might remember that I found it impossible to add shims after the trans is in place due to the design of the pads on the converter. I had to pull the trans back and glue the shims onto the flexplate last time so I don’t want to do that again.

Pretty damn good shape for 160k miles. I’m replacing 3, the 4th was done last year when I broke it.

I got the trans, converter and u-joints today. I started installing the bellhousing and rear extension and my cheap ass 1/2” torque wrench took a dump and my 3/8” one only went to 20 ft/lbs so I decided to buy new Icons. I saw a comparison test with the Icon and Snap-On and the Icon actually beat the Snap-On. So I bought their 3/8” and their 1/2”. They’re about $100 each. I like them so far.

This time around I bought replacement hex head bolts from ITC Billet to attach the bellhousing to the trans and tossed the frustrating Torx Plus ones. Those suck and love to strip. That’s great for chicks but not bolts!! Anyway the new neutral safety switch, bellhousing, rear extension, brackets, cooler line fittings, etc are installed and a quart of fluid is in the converter so I’m ready for tomorrow.

Putting it all back together tomorrow? BTW, “while your in there,” check up on the rear main. With all of your recent bad issues, don’t want to have to go thru that again!

It was replaced last year when I pulled the trans. It’s fine, I looked. Thanks though. Yes, tomorrow I plan on getting most of it done. I’m not going to push myself too hard. As long as I get the trans up and in, the converter to flexplate clearance checks out and I get the converter bolts, fill tube, trans lines and starter in I’ll be happy. The transfer case and exhaust can wait until Sunday. I still have to install the new u-joints in the drive lines too. They were supposed to be delivered 2 days ago but FedEx sucks so they came today. The old ones are removed though.

Everything is done except the drivelines. I got half the u-joints done but it got hot and muggy so I quit. I’ll finish those tonight or in the morning, install the drivelines and then fill it up with DexVI. I wasn’t expecting to get this far today but I’ve gotten better at it. Feels good to be close.
