so i filmed a video of acceleration, constant gas, and took a photo at a red light is my oil pressure normal? I just got my oil changed I have 100,000 miles on it its a 2013 5.3. videos wouldn't load but idle was between the 20 and 40 mark around 30-35 and when i get on it it can go past 40. this pic was from the stop light. Also my tahoe has afm/dod turned off.

Looks good to me.

Seems normal to me. Pretty much what mine does/has always done since I bought it at 147K. Is this different behavior immediately following the oil change?

Normal for mine @90k too

The new one tho is all over the gauge..lol

Variable-displacement oil pump. When higher PSI isn't needed, the vanes on the impeller reduce their angle, which reduces the volume it pumps. The lower volume causes a pressure drop. This reduces the drag on the motor to return a solid .000037% increase in fuel economy.

Pretty much the same stuff on mine. Id say you are normal and things are working correctly. Got to remember 10 pounds oil pressure for every 1k rpm is the old rule of thumb. Some of the early LS engines idled at 5psi to reduce pump drag.
You are on the good mark for PSI dont wory till its 15-20 when on the gas.... then its an issue.

I was just BSing when I wrote this cuz it sounded ridiculous. But then I happened across an article today about the LT engine's variable displacement oil pump. It doesn't alter the impeller vane angle, but it's still a variable pump. I'llbedamned.

Not quite a bullseye, but I'd give you an '8'!

Yes, you are correct. When I bought my new truck, I was very concerned with the oil pressure. Like under 20 at idle. Did some research and they have a variable pressure pump. At WOT, it'll damn near peg to 80 but normal driving, it ranges form 18-40. Just something else to **** up.
