I need help with my audio setup PLEASE!!!!!

First off let me start by saying please don't laugh at me but this is the first time I doing the setup myself. Ok, I thinking of getting the MX1 converter to keep my factory head unit until I found out about the AOEM-GM1416. The MX1 requires you cut the wires from the amp. I do not want to do that. The trouble is the GM1416 only has two sets of RCA out puts. I changed the door speakers to Alpine SPS600's, which are really good speakers but I think they would sound even more better if there were amplifered. I also want to add 1 maybe 2 12" subs to the set up. My questions are, 1. Can I do this with only 2 sets of RCA out puts? 2. Do I use 1, 5 channel amp or a 4 and mono block amp? If you guys can please let me know the best way to do this. Thanks for any feed back.
PS. I have a 2007 Tahoe LS.

2 sets of RCA's is fine, and depends on how much power you want. Some 5 channel amps have ok power, but not massive. I have a Kicker ZX700.5 and love it...85x4 and 420 on a single 10" sub. More than enough.
I do plan to take it out, and try the new Kicker IX1000.5 tho, much smaller, more power.

For what it sounds like your wanting to accomplish, im thinking you want something all encompasing and make it easy. I think that a 5 channel might be the best, but if your wanting to go a little deeper, then a 4 chan and a mono would work. I guess whats most important is how much bass your looking for, if you want more then i woudl go individual amps.

I agree with the above. depending on the amount of power you are looking to push, a single 5 channel can certainly handle the job. If your looking for over 500 watt rms to your sub, a mono block for the sub would probably be the best bet. I recently installed 2 Jl 12 w3v2 running off a 460 watt rms mono amp, and it is plenty power for me. My front components are getting 170 watts/channel off a bridged 4 channel amp, and the rears gettign 65 watts/channel off a 2 channel amp. I am not running a lot of power, and feel that a single 5 channel could easily take the place of the 3 amps i am currently running. Ive been really impressed with the JL Audio HD 900/5, which i am planning to put in my m3 in the summer. Depending on what you want to spend, an Audison 5.1k is an amazing amp, that can seriosuly power a whole system.

A lot of good four channel amps also have a preamp bypass/output that isn't filtered for highs or lows so you can daisy chain to do a mulitple amp setup. That would utilize the original four channel preamps to the main four channel amp then give another preamp out to the sub amplifier.

thanks guy for the replies, but like i said before I'm a newbie to this. if you guys can bare with me and let me know how to do the set up. I'm going this weekend to buy the stuff and don't want these audio guys to to bleed me dry. I think i will go with two amps a 4 channel and a mono block. thanks again guys and when I'm done I post some pics.

just run 0 gauge back to a distribution block, then dual 4 gauge to both amps.

Update on Amp/Sub hunt

Hey Guys, just a little update from my sub/amp hunt. Just found out that car audio stores are hear to rob us blind. I checked several different ones for price quotes and it's any where from $300 to $600 from 2 12 inch and a mono block. Word of advise to the new audio guys like myself, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!! I when to a flea market here in Houston, TX and I knew more about the MX-1 converter than the salesman. Scary! He had no idea about the PAC AOEM-1416A converter. Long story short, I just ordered two 12 inch kicker subs + the box and the converter from sonicelectronix.com for $203.00. When I get them I will upload pictures.

Yeah when it comes to car customizing a lot of people do not know what they are talking about.
But I am surprised your whole package cost only $200! My Alpine Type R 12 cost almost that alone!
