Well I ordered a PAC OS-5. Not sure the pros and cons would be compared to the maestro

Just wondering what SWC interface I can use with the PAC interface

Glad you're getting all this sorted out. To answer your question for others that may be reading:

Keeping with the same brand definitely makes this stuff easier. But, these SWCs are designed to be universal. I originally had the Metra Axxess interface and SWC but switched the interface to a PAC. After comparing wiring harness and installation instructions of both brand's equipment, I was able to connect the Axxess SWC to the PAC interface. The Axxess is half the price and, as far as I know, does the same thing. Upon initialization, it correctly identified the radio and vehicle brands and it's default settings were just how I would've programmed the SWC buttons. It's basically just a couple wires for power and ground and a single wire for the data stream.

Oh ok . Yeah that's not my head unit, went with an Android head unit. but thanks for the info
Which Android head unit did you choose, and how is the sound quality relative to the factory u it? Are you happy with its functionality as well?

Thanks for your time in responding.

Went with a pumpkin unit and I love it. Sounds just as good as my Kenwood I had in it before

However I am having a problem getting SWC to work.
Using the PAC OS-5 harness I bought the PAC SWI-RC . Plugged it in and tried to program it but I get nothing. Says to program to version 2 and then I have it on knob 7 for "Other" radio brand.

Any thoughts?

I had the PAC RM4-GM31 and although it wasn't meant for the amplified Bose system the SWC worked. Should I try a different SWC interface?

Well guys, I've been dissecting the issue and haven't solved it but did find out something tonight

When OnStar is activated, the SWC works fine. So I know the wiring to the PAC and then to the SWC interface is getting the input.

I could care less about OnStar, or retaining it for that matter. Actually tonight I disconnected the OnStar box behind the dash for more room for wires lol (didn't change any of my issues)

When grounding the mute loop from the PAC OS-5 harness then the SWC is gets a signal all the time. But then it also shuts down the head unit (thinking that OnStar is activated?)

I've searched throught my wiring several times and don't think I'm missing anything, maybe I have a bad interface? I emailed PAC for any solutions or troubleshooting. Fingers crossed ..

They have a guide on their website. You can also change things up if you plug it into a Pc. I have a pioneer HU

Ok I'm just afraid I'll blow money on it and have it not work with this Chinese radio . I love this radio .just want it to work with my Yukon lol

What's weird is that SWC worked fine in my old interface and now with the PAC OS-5 it doesn't. The OS5 has a SWC indicator light on it that blinks when the buttons are pressed and this only works for me when OnStar is activated.

I was able to play around with the brown mute wire coming off the OS5 interface and found out that if I ground it then the SWC light on the OS5 interface blinks like it should. (The brown wire is looped originally in the harness) However this makes the head unit shut off as it thinks OnStar is on. I'm thinking I might bypass the red acc wire to the headunit from somewhere else not through the interface and give this a try.

Otherwise it has to do with the brown mute wire and the blue OnStar volume wire

The only wire not hooked up with my setup is a solid blue onstar volume wire, I have no where to hook it up. Manuals from PAC don't really explain this wire much so it may have something to do with it ...

The SWC works as it should during OnStar (when OnStar is activated the volume up and down control the onstar volume)

Thanks for your help guys lemme know if u have any tips. PAC takes forever to reply to emails and I don't have a normal schedule to call haha

Friggin PAC... :/

So will be trying both of those

Can't use maestro with my Chinese unit I don't think
