Hello, pretty much what is says above. Slowly rebuilding my Yukon XL. Original stereo would work sometimes, headunit always powered up, but music would randomly start working when driving, headunit always stayed lit. Door chimes have always worked (Ive read thats an indicator the amp is good.) Replaced both factory amp with rebuilt unit, and bose headunit with a Factory 1 Radio rebuilt/modified bluetooth unit, and had it reprogrammed at GMC. Still the same, headunit reponds normally, works with steering wheel controls, amp still door chimes, but never any music. I've obviously already spent more than it would cost to gut and replaced with modern stuff, so I'd like to stick with the Bose seup. Any common causes for this issue or wiring diagrams to check? Thanks, Jim

I have seen a module under the center console that might have something to do with it.?

Just throwing stuff out there. Lol. Buddy had the same issue and that was his problem. Have u checked for power into the amp and use a loose speaker and touch the terminals and see if the loose speakers play?

not exactly easy to diagnose without a scanner, a tech2 allows you to test the amp channel by channel
if you still have the old amp you could connect it and see what happens

If u have audio out wires, tap into those with a loose speaker and that will tell u where u need to look.

I got a tech2 knockoff, I can see that the radio is transmitting volume, but it doesnt look like the amp is receiving it. Is there a good place to find a complete wirng diagram?

Check the harness that goes into the amp that is routed (in GMs infinite wisdom) underneath the center console between it and the carpet is such a way that it is pinched. It can be reached by removing the cupholders. I believe this is only the case for the RPO Y91 "luxury" bose package, which I'm 95% positive your Denali should have.

For the longest I would get no sound, mainly no sound out of my right speakers, sometimes both sides, until I started keeping a long thin, panel puller type tool that I would shove between the very back of the flip cover and the console body and pusg against the harness in random spots until I got sound again.

does the amp pass testing?
it should tell you the model number on the tech2 and you should be able to test tone each channel, the radio is not part of that test.
if you cannot communicate with the amp then there is a wiring problem or the amp is defective.
in either case if you still have the old amp plug it in for testing.

As I was saying before, go to the input side and unplug. Pinout the + & - of a speaker and test. Good easy way to check incoming sound. If it's going in and not coming out then amp is bad. As long as u have power and a ground at amp.

Wow thats a great website! I'm having trouble finding the DLC schematics, do you know how they are referenced? I downloaded the radio schematics but they all end at "Data Link Connector " 2004 GMC yukon xl 4x4 6.0 Denali, RPO UQ7 Y91

I'm going to post what solves this. There are so many of these threads unfinished.

Just to clarify, the amp does output. On a Bose the door chimes through the speakers. On the Tech I can see the radio is outputting volume signal via Serial. The amp has the u1000 code, and i can see its not receiving the volume command. It shows a part number, so I'm assuming the truck can see the amp, but somehow cant communicate with it. I want to find the connector to test the serial line voltage for each, is it connector SP205? Does someone have the info of what voltage they should each output? Usually CAN is like 2.5 or 4.5
