Probably because of the way you set the system to slightly raise your truck from static. I have run the trimset twice. It seems to set the zero at wherever the truck sits static with a full tank and then compensates for sag.

I think it works ok when you’re at stock height but when you’re lowered you risk confusing it, idk.

I would like a 1/2 drop on mine but to also retain al the factory suspension systems like the air and auto ride... Dreams...

You can. Just adjust the sensor rods

…and with the shock extenders you shouldn’t have to do any mods to the autoride system from my understanding

The extenders are to regain 2" of shock travel. If the springs lower it 2", the shocks will still operate at their full range of travel with those extenders. If you lower it 3", then you'll only lose 1" of travel. If you never load it down enough to bottom out the suspension (anyone that does wouldn't be interested in lowering), you'll never miss that 1".

The ALC (Auto Level Control) uses the ride height sensors to adjust the rear when loaded. As long as the sensors are right where they are now after the drop, the system will be unaffected and it'll operate the same. If you drop it 3" and leave the stock link rods on the sensors, it'll think you've loaded it enough to squat it 3" and it'll air up the shocks to raise it back up 3", negating your drop and making it ride like a wagon. Those $20 shorter links get it close, and likely within an acceptable range. But, if they "work for a 2" to 3" drop", that's still a whole inch of variance. The amount of air pressure it takes to adjust an inch will be felt. As Mark mentioned, you can do the same (and better) by making your own for way cheaper.

All you gotta do is get the sensor at the same position it's in now after you drop it so the system never "sees" the drop. Just as mine sat at stock height, I used a silver Sharpie to make alignment marks. After the drop, I removed the factory link rod and rotated the sensor until the marks aligned with one hand while I measured the distance between the centers of the holes that the link's ball studs screwed in to with the other hand. I pulled the ends off of the factory link rods and cut pieces of 10-24 x 6" stainless steel all-thread rod to make the new link rods. I think I got the all-thread from Home Depot for under $2.

The factory design raises the rear about .5" at startup. If you don't want it to do this, then make your marks with it "aired up" at that height. Just know that it'll ride a little softer in the rear.

Been snowy, icy and very cold here the last few weekends so no progress since I don’t want to lay on a wet, salty, cold floor this is at the top of my list, tho, so I’ll make time for it as soon as it’s above 40 or so and I’m not going to have melting snow dripping on me

Took a break from work and at least got the coilovers put together per the instructions. I think what I’m gonna do is put in for a day of vaca and dedicate that day to getting the install complete on the Burb. Figure a few hours in the AM to do the job and then the afternoon pictar taking and making sure all is fine and dandy

I think you should. They seem to be of pretty decent quality. Obviously, I don't know anything about longevity yet.

I'm currently scoping out a day that may be decent for me to take off work since I can't seem to block off time on the weekends due to kids events and/or weather. I'll be doing that here in the next couple of weeks and then knocking this job out, finally, along with some other smaller things while we're at it.

yea i was going to order the rough countrys which are still a couple hundred more just to see how they are. without much confidence and not wanting to spend $2k on a set right now. id much rather spend $700 without knowing much about the belltech/KW lol

Yeah, with 4 kids it's just a fact of life which is the biggest reason why I'm always so slow on my projects especially the more time consuming ones. I predict that the install on this next phase of the Burb is 4 hours for the install then probably another hour or two "testing 'er out", cleaning her up and getting pics taking for my TYF peeps. It's hard to block that much time off and this being the wife's DD I'm hesitant to start the project and just pick at it over the course of a few days like I do with my S10 or my Monte.

Parts for a mild drop purchased. Going with Belltech coilovers for the front and McGaughy springs for the rear. Goal is a 1/2 to 2/2 drop. Should be just about perfect for what I’m going for. I was at 3/5 with my 07 and was super tired of the issues that came with that by the time I sold that rig so don’t want to repeat that again. Good thing with these coilovers is I can adjust ride height up or down so I’m not “married” to a specific set up if I want to change things.

Hoping these arrive next week and I’ll install them soon after that. Shouldn’t take more than a few hours to accomplish.
