Made it to Virginia i guess the check engine light was a fluke. I disconnected the trailer wire and replugged it been fine.
with the right radio and adapter they would, all it is, is 2 wires on the obd port to the module and then to the radio, will work on any vehicle or "should"
radio just needs to have the vehicle interface option.
I actually had a very similar radio in my 00 and my 03 I just wasn't aware of the idatalink's existence at the time for 1 because I didn't need it to make the radio work. I didn't have bose so I just installed amps and speakers, the maestro was not even on the radar.....
Well, I asked iDatalink about mine and they said it wouldn't do it (even with an iDatalink-compatible Kenwood HU).

that seems strange, I could see it not interfacing with certain things but tpms and obd data are pretty universal.
but I went and looked it looks like they only support 2007+
seems like there would be a way to do it, but that is a rabbit hole
other easy options are a bluetooth adapter, and app's

New rear shocks... car feel so much better. Guess I didn't realize how bad they were getting.

from the pic that looks just like torque app and that app is open source. so I'd guess yours right, as long as the radio you pick will support the app and had Bluetooth to a cheap dongle. it seems like it should work.
might be a blue too plug in missing but the pids for the standard obd 2 data is the same for both trucks. I don't see how the radio would know it's in a 06 vs and 07?

Those old shocks were toast.
Since they wear ever so slightly it is easy not to notice how bad they have gotten over the years.
It was a night and day difference on every car I've done shocks and struts on.
Was very noticeable when I did all four on my sister's 2009 Silverado.
My brother in law couldn't believe the difference and he hardly ever drives the truck.
