Thinking about looking at a Ford Excursion.. not to replace my Tahoe, but as a backup hauler/camping vehicle..

Anyone driven an Excursion for comparison? And know what to look for?

FWIW a close friend of mine had one with the 6.0L turbodiesel (noisy), and I'll bet he had to replace the injectors at least 3 times. If you get something like that, plan on injectors and consider getting them from Area Diesel Service (https://shop.areadieselservice.com/).

Just a V10 version here for pretty reasonable it seems... ($3800)

I know nothing about diesels and likely won't need the torque..
(Or won't know what I'm missing, though I wouldn't mind trying one, but $$$)

they roll, they just behave like a boat in the water. the sway is VERY noticeable to me anyway, but I don't drive normal either. If i can cut to the right thru 4 lanes at angle to get around a cl@sterfuck of morons i will.

Yea I figure the Tahoe for street, and Excursion for overland type terrain..
I know I don't drive like you (anymore!) so I think I'll be fine boating around...

Had a car cut right in front of me and another down a 40mph city street.. Straight jumped a parking lot curb and went straight over the median curb and into other side curb..
No steering input.. no braking.. I was too pissed and drove around, but maybe I should have checked on them if they had a heartattack or something..
Drivers getting worse around here..

all I can say is test drive one or two or whatever before biting the bullet and if you are going to use one offroad or out in the boondocks research that vehicle

High mile V10s are cheap around here also. A maintained 6.0 is crazy. The 3 i see close to me are over 10k and over 250k miles.

Lucky your trims still look good!
My Tahoe trim was drying out and getting some pinkish hue on top..
Could have painted it, but they were starting to look a little wavy too, so I ripped em all off..

I installed my '15-'18 ppv rear springs with 1" spacer (maybe 1-1/8")
About 1" lower than before? Most noticeable when I open the hatch..
Still more rake than I want, might remove spacer, but that may be too little rake..
IMG_0959.jpeg

Discovered my upper spring insulators are all torn up.. None available at RockAuto! Found it, under 'leaf spring insulator'!
IMG_0957.jpeg

They were about 2-3/8" shorter than my z71 springs .
IMG_0956.jpeg

Planning to do some front end alignment before I throw my 20's on there to test..
Drives good with 17's, doesn't feel too stiff.

I will need shorter rear shocks or extender..
The springs could fall out, but the rear swaybar will probably keep it in unless both rear wheels droop..
Maybe I just need regular Tahoe springs? (no spacer, don't need shorter shock..) hmmm

No pic. But I washed my Yukon for the first time since "The Fall" back in mid-December when I ruptured the quad tendon in my right leg. Surgery on Christmas eve. I'm finally able to hobble around well enough that my wife trusted me on a wet driveway, lol. Once I can bend my leg a little more, I might get to actually drive it.

I'll never forgive GM for these crappy dashboards!

One of the major reasons I don't want a second GM vehicle..

See a Suburban 2500 forsale here, but thinking about all the crappy plastic bits kinda deflates me..

Yeah GM's legacy is cheaping out.

I still bought a 2500 Silverado yesterday, regardless.

I'll be honest...My Yukon and Buick will be the last GM Product I buy that isnt pre 1980s or a C5/C6. We all know the downfalls of the yukon which isnt terrible. But this Encore is easily one of the Worst GMs i've ever owned. It only has 112k On it. Turbos going bad. Oil Cooler lines leaking, Coolant Leak that I havent found, Exhaust has broken in 3 different spots. The 1.4L engine is gutless. It bogs just turning on the headlights. I could rant on further but once this new baby comes out. It'll be put up for sale and I'll go get an VW Tiguan or Atlas for her or we'll go to the minivan world.

It sucks that they've gotten so cheap over the years. I grew up a GM Fanboy, First car was a grand am. My mom owned every generation of Jimmy and that was my Highschool car. Owned countless Lesabres, Grand Prix GTPs, Cobalt SS.
