Hi Folks, new member, we have been in need of a new family hauler for quite some time, I'm in an ageing but still awesome 2008 Land Cruiser with close to 190k miles and working through some issues (yes, they do have issues). Long story short, it's time.

We are looking at a base Denali XL 3.0 Duramax my local dealer has in their incoming inventory pipeline (allegedly). We do not need Max Trailering, definitely do not want rear seat media, and can live w/out Advanced tech stuff. This thing will be light years ahead of the Cruiser as it is. We need a reliable, decently efficient long road trip family hauler (sports travel teams, friends coming on vacation, 2 dogs, too much stuff). We don't tow anything, yet, maybe a small camp trailer at some point. There is a time constraint too, trying to get into something prior to Thanksgiving, it's not critical but important.

But, there's always FoMo - what would we lose in this base config that we might regret later?

Here's the build sheet

A Denali base looks like it has more options than my RST Tahoe (which from my understanding is just a LT with some flare).

Personally I don't think you will have an FOMO with that setup.

If you say that you just need a basic vehicle that is big, this will more than fit your bill well. Don’t pass it up because waiting for another one or just the right thing again, could take six months or longer for something like it to show up again….Especially with a Dmax…

Yep this is where we're at - end of the day we simply don't need that extra stuff, being realistic. And, don't (can't?) wait for a 2022 to show up, mid next year? Forgot to mention got them to put 20" wheels on it - we're not fans of yuge wheels and I like me some additional sidewall to soak up the bumps.

Apparently 6 weeks since it's already in the pipeline! We'll see! Edit: Not in the pipeline - an allocation, so, order with deposit is into the dealership, 8 weeks we hope +/- goal is by Thanksgiving so wiggle room. Waiting on order acceptance and a build date, I think that's the process.

And we have a VIN number as of this week :) She's been built or is about to finish.

Questions for folks in the South East or even Carolinas - how long has it taken for vehicles to arrive after production week/VIN assignment?

I am in Charlotte. I went to 3800 status/VIN created the middle of last week. It sat that way for a few days before going to 4D00, which is something you don't want. My Yukon was transported to a storage lot in Midlothian, Texas on Sunday were it will sit until it gets microchiped. Know one knows how long this will be. You can go to the following site and enter your VIN. It will tell you where your vehicle is. https://palsapp.com/Home/Home I hope you get lucky and it actually ships.

Man I am sorry to hear that - will check this app - thanks very much. We are hoping it doesn't end up that way because we deliberately de-contented it in the order to almost base. I think the only "options" on this one are pano roof, sliding center console and polished exhaust tip (which I'd have also deleted if I'd caught it). Oh and 20" wheel "downgrade".

My 2021 Tahoe was built the week of Sept 6, my dealer gave me the VIN and the Tahoe was put on the train the week of Sept 13. It was delivered to my dealer in central Virginia on Oct 1. It stayed on the train for 3 full weeks and the tracking they gave me showed every stop the train made from Texas to Virginia.

So roughly a Month after prod week? That's good (assuming no blocker issues with chips etc). We have fingers crossed for Tgiving delivery but you just never know.

Things must be pretty bad when they can't ship the base, decontented models out now. This one is a 2022, manufactured this week - we stripped it pretty bare, but I guess even things like the HUD, and base Denali equipment group stuff has fallen victim to the chip shortage.

Well, maybe jumped the gun while crying wolf. Spoke to Dealer, they said hey going to this lot is "normal" and our order status is currently 4300 as of this AM, which means, per Dealer again, just waiting to be loaded up on the train. Take it for what its worth but sounded like (this Dealer believes) all vehicles go through this process <shrug>.

I'll keep monitoring it and see if we end up showing a different result here:https://palsapp.com/Home/About

Ref I found: https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm-order-tracking/gm-order-event-codes-and-definitions/
Didn't see 4D00 listed there, but they have a 4B00 which appears to be pretty much the same thing (maybe a typo).

Edit to add, found this: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/184469-new-order-event-codes/?do=findComment&comment=1775604

Not sure we're out of the woods just yet:
• 4200, Shipped (Vehicle has been moved by a carrier to another location or destination. If in combination with a 4300 status code then this is transfer to either a vendor for upfitting or to a distribution yard for final transportation.)
• 4300, Intermediate Delivery (In combination with a 4200 this is saying that the vehicle has been transported to a vendor or to a distribution center.)
• 4B00, Bayed (listed anytime a vehicle is sitting parked waiting for next mode of transportation. It can also be this status while in Quality Control)

We are at 4300 now, not 4B00 (or 4D00 as mentioned here) so, fingers remain crossed.

that is true for you. If Destination isn’t rail shuttle and is the same as above its in the chip hold lot. My dealer had 4 get shipped for stock that were made the same time as mine interesting enough with almost the same options and they made it mine didn’t.

Do you have any idea why that is? That is, some make it and some do not? My dealer has five 2022s coming and two of them are virtually the same as mine but with 4WD (mine is 2WD) and the Denali Ultimate package (mine has the Denali Premium package). In other words, those are better equipped and were still chipped. Is it just luck of the draw and we were on the wrong side of it?

I don’t think anyone knows. My dealer has no clue. GM chat is worthless. I have about had it my patience is gone. I’m about ready to tell them to stick it and wait and get a non GM brand vehicle. I get there are supply chain issues but to not have or give any information on why some are made and some aren’t and not having giving an ETA is absurd.
