4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

I had stock calipers and rotors on an 03. Had fairly new high friction pads and the brakes still sucked.

Just a note: If you don't feel comfortable with non-standard solutions, like where you have to get washers (huh?) for spacers and
potentially trim washers to fit spindles or shave them to center the caliper over the rotor.....,
Then this upgrade isn't for you.

I'm just restoring an 18 year old Tahoe (which is vintage class) partly in protest of not wanting to paying $85K for a new one. So I'm trying to get as close to the
performance of a new one as possible and still stay within my budget. This brake upgrade is very comparable in cost to replacing with stock level
stop tech calipers, rotors and pads.

I don't know what the 07-14 brake upgrade is. Is that simply bolt on?
I've had an 08 and a 12 Tahoe. Still an ugly 2P caliper and braking performance was nothing to love.

Be sure to draw a scale onto the template so others know it printed correctly.

I don’t have a caliper to mock up but a template would be nice.

There were a few people early in this thread saying this would never work without a custom hydraulic system because the master cylinder wouldn’t work right, the booster wouldn’t work right, and it would need a custom proportioning valve because old race cars. They said the pedal would feel like crap and it wouldn’t work well even with the Wilwood of Brembo kits. Which isn’t the case at all. My brake pedal feels better than it ever has with the Brembo kit.

I might have agreed if this was piecing together random components from various manufacturers trying to make a big brake kit but these are 100% factory parts. Which is why the Brembo and Wilwood kits also work fine because they were designed to work with the rest of the components of the truck.

Ah. I guess I forgot about those comments because they didn’t hold water in the first place. I’ve been running Wilwoods 16”/14” kits on both my trucks for a long time with amazing results.

Still waiting on my new rotors and pads, but the new replica Trail Boss wheels and BFG KO2s look fantastic on my 2010 Tahoe. And plenty of extra space between the outer face of the original caliper and the inner face of the wheel hub and spokes, so I'm confident there won't be any clearance issues with the new calipers. Guys, save yourself some trouble if you can afford it and just go with the proper wheels instead of spacers. I got mine which are brand new replicas and they are perfect. $700ish to your door from the seller I got them from. Basically half price of oem wheels. Let me know what you all think of the pics and if want the sellers info from ebay

I found the Repop AT4s ($681, LOL) and the TrailBoss wheels under this seller.
I think the AT4 wheel would look really good in silver or candy red.

And BTW,
I took the Tahoe equipped now with the super calipers to AZ today.
With that trip and weekend mileage I have about 500 miles on em.

And so far.
1. No loss in torqued settings on the caliper bolts
2. No spacer (washer) degradation...compression or weirdness
3. No uneven pad wear or strange streaking on the rotor. If I don't have it lined up correctly I'll see uneven pad wear.
4. No stress cracks from shaving that ridge off yet.

And I was able to follow cars in front of me so much closer without the fear of not being able to stop in time.....and fend off the dorks from diving in front of me.

And I stopped a few times on the trip to take rotor and caliper heat readings....no issues
At the bottom of a 20 minute downhill grade (and about 90 outside) I stopped to check the temps and no issues.
I actually touched the caliper with my finger (I never do that) and was so surprised that it was barely even warm. Being made of steel I thought it would've
retained more heat. It must be made of some weird alloy.


Here's a thought.
If I towed alot with one of these vehicles, I would definitely want to use these calipers and rotors.
I don't know if it fits on a 2500, the spindle/caliper bolt pattern might be different.

So anyone interested in cross drilled powerstops are on back order till after July 5th I guessbut after researching I found r1 concepts has them.they actually machine them after you order takes a week minimum.then it was 5 days shippjng.gonna run about 200 for the pair.i scored a 25% off code from there site tho got them shipped for 135!!!part numbers are in the pics.ill get pics of the install hopefully soon

Alright, I'm not one to recommend people jump on a deal but R1 has 25% off rotors and pads for this swap, just saved me $72.

I get all my OEM discs from Brake Performance. They cryo-treat them for durability and warp-resistance. I started using them back when I had a Mustang Cobra that would warp the fronts on a regular basis. They have several styles; plain, drilled, slotted and combinations. They also zinc coat, silver or black.

They list discs for 2019/20 Silverado. So I assume these work for this application. FYI the 35% discount is perpetual. Every now and then it bumps to 40%.
