From 18’s with 31’s to 20’s with 33’s here’s my experience-

I refreshed the front end on my 2001 Yukon and went from 2021 Silverado 18’s to 2022 Silverado LTZ 20’s with 33’s on them.

I intended to do upper control arms, lower control arms inner and outer tie rods, pitman arm, and idler/bracket but upon further inspection inner and outer were fine looked like they had been replaced at some point and idler and pitman had very little movement so passed on them too.

I went with all ac delco parts, I even got ac delco uppers with 2 additional degrees because I intended on turning the torsion keys to get a level ride height and wanted to do it right and were relatively cheap compared to other options.

Just got it aligned and couldn't be happier with the result.

Heres some pics, those 20’s tho really bigger than 18’s! I did 4 full turns on the keys. Ride is def smoother less play overall especially when breaking, little stiffness with the suspension since more torsion on bars but feels good and solid, planted and more fun to drive. No rubbing at all.

Now if I can just get this paint a little correct, ideas of ways cost friendly? Tijuana!?

Questions, anything I should be concerned about with gearing and or the trans? It definitely shifts earlier than it did before on my regular routes and engine is working harder with those bigger wheels and tires-

Anything I can do to manage engine and trans with these bigger rims/tires? Tune?

A pcm tune will help the transmission do the best it can with the axle gears it already has. Your 4L60E will last longer with a good pcm tune, for sure,
even if you only want an 87/89 octane tune.
If you got a lil more money to throw around, upgrade your axle to 4.10 - or 3.73 IFF the vast majority of your Yukon's mileage is highway miles.

I’d say I’m a good mix of mileage usually but do a bit of highway mileage and will take the rig on some camping trips throughout the year.

Have def been considering a tune can you remind me the two popular ones on here if you know I can find them too- thanks for the info!

This forum seems to only consistently recommend BlackBear Performance.
For your vehicle I would also strongly recommend PCMPerformance.com.
There are other tuners who do proper & thorough tunes. I'd recommend anyone with a good solid reputation of at least 10 or more years.

Good looking wheel and tire switch up! Looks good! I can’t recommend blackbear performance enough for tunes!!! They really know what they’re doing. Had my 2006 Yukon xl Denali tuned in 2017 with them and have no regrets sos inf the cage in that! Trans holding a lower gear longer and torque management shut down was worth every penny!
