What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

This should be interesting. GM got out of recalling the cracked dashes under the class action lawsuit. But the passenger side airbags are covered under this new recall. How will they handle it when the cracked and brittle dash needs to come out to exchange the airbag? I'd love to think GM might be forced to replace cracked dashes by this recall. But somehow, I think they'll find a way out of it. And what about the folks who've installed covers? This could get literally and figuratively messy!

The dash doesn’t need to come out to replace the airbag; instead, the airbag has to come out to replace the dash. All you have to do is drop the glovebox door all the way down by pushing in on the clip on the right to access the airbag bolts and then release the clips in the cover as you push it up and out. So they won’t really be touching the dash at all.
Even if they did have to remove it, they would make note of the cracked dashes prior to removing them - meaning - pictures are then taken after they break something.
Seriously though, the weak dash issue is something that’s posed me off for a long time. You would think that GM could at least cover the freight charge by having them on hand or readily available for those of us with issues. On that note, if you want to feel better about your cracked dash, go look up 2003-2005ish Lexus GX470 (and similar Toyota models). That issue is disgraceful, and their “fix” is comical at best.

Yeah i like the mesh trailers. Even though when empty they like to get all bouncy on our roads haha

do the air bags make that much of a difference to have. I dont haul alot of really heavy stuff. A riding mower and maybe some random items around that weight

Mine's lowered an inch more in the rear than the front (less factory rake) and with springs that are a little softer than stock. With an estimated 300 lbs. of combined weight in the cargo hold and tongue weight, it sat almost level and would be a bit soft on the humps and dips. A little pressure in the bags raised and firmed up the rear a so it felt like there was no extra weight back there. IMO, they'd be ideal to help out when carrying small loads such as a riding mower.

Were those the Lexus that had the dashes that blistered? If so I was told their fix qas to replace the complete dash.

No those were the ones that cracked from one end of the dash to the other, all along the face of the instrument cluster and down the edges of the stereo/hvac panel. Their “fix” was to use some form of adhesive, which didn’t hold and often left that smeared dried superglue look.

I never heard about that one.
