Couple questions. First this is continuation of old post. I don't know why, my old posts are no longer idexable from the site. I have to search them in google:

Question 1: I'd eventually like install a gun rack and or molly system on the roof towards back. Pretty sure it would attach through the coat hook mounting points. So I'd like to find a different clip system than the stupid coat hooks. I got replacement coat hooks for the back but is there something better? That I can actually take off again. These coat hooks are a nightmare design.

Question 2: one of the former owners of the truck took the headliner out once before. They really beat it up around the pillars. I want to rebuild those corners. Does anybody have a video on how to do that? Perhaps with fiberglass patches? Not sure...

Junk yards are your friends. Buying a used one will be well worth it versus the time, energy, and money spent trying to repair. Recovering it yourself might be worth it if the used one has the fabric sagging. I paid $100 to have mine recovered, but I did the removal and reinstallation.

FWIW, I just keep the last email notification from my threads in my inbox so I can quickly return to them when I want to. I don’t like relying on search functions.

I recovered the sunroof shade. Was getting ready to do the headliner... then my wiring harness bit the dust :( I have dash completely disassembled trying to find the problem. Hopefully I can find it soon so I can finish the headliner.

I am on the mend from my misadventure taking my dash apart. I need to figure out something with the headliner. More specifically the rear coat hooks that hold up the headliner. I got new coat hooks. However, I'd prefer not to use them. I'd like to do something (1) that is easier to take apart and (2) allows me to do a custom mount.

Are there any good alternatives to those crappy coat hanger hooks that hold the headliner up?

Would something like a nutsert work? You could attach a piece of steel with a nutsert centered on the opening for the coat hook to the back side of the bracket and then make a replacement clip that you can put over the headliner when it’s installed and bolt the clip to the nutsert. A couple sheet metal screws should be sufficient to hold the piece with the nutsert in place while you install the headliner.
