My Denali has finally relearned its idle position. For the first 3 days after cleaning the TB it was idling at 1000 rpm and you really had to hold it on the brakes at a stoplight. Plus the mpg was down to 11....

Filled up today and reset mpg meter now getting 14 around town...

This is the reason I haven't cleaned mine yet.

There’s a procedure for idle relearn but it needs to be done immediately upon start up or you have to wait for truck to learn. Had no problem cleaning and using it in my 13.

I don't get it I have cleaned mine in numerous vehicles numerous times never had a single problem, I clean them about every 3 months like clockwork. throttle body cleaner and a clean rag

I don't get it either. I've cleaned mine twice in the 2 years I've had it and never had an idle problem afterwards. I don't remove it from the vehicle or unplug it, just spray it while holding it open and use a rag.

Somewhere else on here I saw someone mention the hand impact driver for un-sticking rusty hardware. I put that on my wish list and got it for father's day. You can't have too many tools!

For sure. I have an old hand impact driver we used to use on the Honda CB bikes, in the olden days. LOL Still works great!

Is that the kind you smack with a big hammer to make them work? I remember those in the 70’s. The bigger the hammer the bigger the impact.

Yup. Looks like this when new. Maybe not so much after some beating... It will ratchet "on" and "off" for install and removal.

Nah, drill bit for the head then vise grips on the protruding stud once you remove the rotor.

Yup. Did this many times growing up with Hondas. I didn't let myself do it on my Tahoe for that last brake job, though. Picked up the impact driver from Harbor Freight.

New upper control arms, new tie-rod ends, all new sway bar bushings, and a Hunter EagleEye alignment. Drives pretty good now, ready for another 100k miles! (In case you're wondering, the lower arms had already been replaced and were in good shape).

Just replaced my vent canister, overall pretty easy job. Drop spare tire, remove one 14mm bolt, cut a couple zip ties, remove a wiring connector and a clip holding in a tube. Took me an hour and half from cranking the tire down to cranking it up. I had been chasing p0442 (small leak in evap system) I changed the purge valve and replaced the gas cap, and the code would come and go. Then a week ago I got P0455 (large leak in evap system) so did the canister. We'll see what happens the next few days as I drive it.
