I’ll water test it. It had adhesive so I was able to stick it to the light but I was thinking about that.

I decided to change the oil yesterday even though oil life said it still had 30%. But when I tried to install the new filter things got weird. The threaded hole was too big, but the new filter I had for the 02 6.0 screwed on. Which led me to a bunch of trial and error and to make a long story short, I ended up using the same filter number as the one I took off, Mobil 1 M1-206A. So today I looked at the pan and got a casting #, 12558999 which led me to the LS1tech.com forum and the actual # for the pan kit which is 12628771. It’s off a 99-02 F body Camaro or Firebird and it’s low profile and holds 5 to 5 1/2 quarts. They had some clearance issues obviously from looking at things, and I may end up replacing one of the ps lines. I also might have to remove about a quart of oil.

I also polished up the billets today. Yesterday it was wash day. Before and after on the rear wheels.

I tried getting a tube down the dipstick hole but no way so back on ramps it went and I guessed on a quart, then checked and it was exactly one quart I removed. Put it back on level ground and the dipstick reads right at the top of the hatches. I’m guessing that since it was over full it left oil all the way up the dipstick ad I pulled it out. Anyway I feel better now. I guess it’s a 5 quart oil pan.

That looks like the "tall" filter off a truck (somewhere along the way they changed to a short filter too). I used to run that on my car so I could get 6 quarts in it instead of 5.5. I'm fairly certain the stock filter doesn't hang down lower than the pan. I you'll probably be ok on that extra half quart

I decided to replace the screw clamps on the CAI's and anything else that have them on both trucks. I need a few smaller ones so I'm not done but those will be here tomorrow. I have never been a fan of screw clamps so the CAI's and anything else that are too big for spring clamps will get t-bar clamps and anything I can find spring clamps for will get them. I have discovered that aftermarket spring clamps don't hold a candle to the ones GM uses but of course the price reflects that. The small OEM one was almost $6 and an entire set of about 50 aftermarket ones were about $20.

The engine cover has bothered me since I’ve owned the truck but I haven’t seen anything that’s been done on these engines to them. The problem seems to be consistent that when a CAI is used there is a huge squarish hole to the left of the TB. It’s where part of the OEM air tube projects. It’s a terrible design imo. If anybody knows of a different cover that doesn’t have this please let me know. This is the 4.8 but it seems the same on all of them on the NNBS. Anyway I’m in the process of trying to make something to fill that hole. Not sure if it’s gonna work but I have to try.

I was looking at Camaro covers actually but there’s one thing that really bothers me about that and I can’t seem to find a way to get around it. It’s the oil filler hole. It’s not in the right place. Now if I can get a different filler neck and make that relocate my cap to the correct location then hell yes. But Jeff’s has an oil filler cap located outside the cover plus another hole in the cover . Trading one hole for another as they say.

I either didn't notice or completely forgot about that. So, SSR cover then? Maybe '14-'18 Silverado cover?
After looking at your pics, I'm now self conscious about my gaping hole. I'll just close the hood and move on with life.

I turned the demon eyes on last week for the first time in awhile and was messing around with the color by using the ap on my phone and discovered the passenger side won’t turn green. It turns every other color. So I switched outputs around, hoping it was the RGB controller. No luck, it’s the Morimoto demon eye itself. Which is inside the headlight housing, behind the shroud. The only way to fix it is to bake the headlight open. I’m kinda pissed but what can I do. TRS will warranty it, but it’s only a $15 part. I’ll fix it this winter. I’m ordering the part, I have to pay a “deposit” until I swap it out and send a pic of the wires cut off the bad one. The deposit is the cost of the part, $15.

I have noticed all my air pressure in the 7 gallon tank is gone every time it sits overnight or longer. It’s been happening for the last month or so so today I sprayed the back half of the plumbing with soapy water. I’m pretty sure I found the culprit so I ordered a new one today. Its the pressure switch. It’s leaking out where the wires attach. There’s no markings on it for on/ off pressure so I determined it turns off at least 200 since that’s where my gauge stops and I can get the bags up to that pressure. 200 seems to be the highest they go unless you go to an adjustable and I also don’t want to go higher than necessary or it wears out the pumps. So the one I ordered is a Viair 165/200. It turns the pumps on at 165 and off at 200.
